I think the site chat is a great idea. Just click on the link at the top and it will load up the java chat client. You have to leave the window open that it loads in for it to stay open.

I've been idling in the chat all day and haven't seen someone stay in it for any longer than 30 seconds. I'm at work and will chat between work stuff, but I'm not going to be at the keyboard ALL the time. If you're going to be around or even semi-afk you should try idling so we can get it populated. When you come back to the keyboard you can pick up on the conversation wherever it left off.

I've always though a #my350z IRC channel would be great, but the IRC chat client wil do for now. Folks need to just have a little patience and stay in the channel so we can get a good chat community started too.

We had a good conversation going on in there for a good 30 minutes. I like the idea, just hope that it will work.
