Well either way if i was getting a SC or a ST, i would do upgrades to the tranny.. I wouldnt trust any FI on stock 5AT tranny... Plus id like to have some quick shifts going .
www.sgpracing.com,
$700 for Valve body upgrade
$700 for Torque converter (not shown on site)

The really are no cheap mods for the Z. You can get a JWT Popcharger for about $110 which is a replacement air-filter. Headers you can find on Ebay for like $250 I think for Topspeed headers, which some people swear by, or pick up a set of Alphawerks for around $650 that are dyno proven for, on average, 17 whp. The 3.917 EVO Final Drive will net you about .3-.4 seconds in the 1/4 and will probably cost about $1k for the parts and install I think. Otherwise, power wise, you start getting expensive, such as TT/SC kits, or a heavy N/A buildup with cams, internals, etc.

Headers will void warranty if I'm not mistaken. Personally, I couldn't see spending all of those $ on NA mods for only small HP gains. Maybe exhaust/hi flo cats, clutch/flywheel. I'd just as soon trade for a faster stock car...M3?? I love my Z and am thinking about APS TT which I believe there are quite a few people here who have them installed as bolt on running low boost and have had very few problems. One guy has 75K miles on his Z and like 15k mile with the TT kit. What do you all think the APS TT Kit can be had for in about 2 years? Will it be alot cheaper?? J

Basic bolt-ons cannot void any part of your warranty without the dealership proving they caused the problem in the first place. Most dealerships will not bother you about basic bolt-ons, such as an intake, exhaust, y-pipe, headers, etc. When you get into things like crank pully, clutch/flywheel combos, that could present some problems, but again they have to prove it was the problem under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
