Default REV light

Hi, I just test drove a 2007 350 Roadster 6MT. I took it on the highway. Is it normal for the REV light to light up even if you are on 6th gear?

You can set the light to come on and just about any RPM up to the redline setting.

Ahh I guess it just monitors the RPM and lights up according to your setting irregardless if you are already on the last gear (6th gear). Thanks.

Yup, and when my car was daily driven I had it set around 3k , basically the light went off any time I went over 80 mph

Well either your going really fast or its set low. Just reset it to something a little higher.

I shift by sound, although it is set at 6600. I shift just past that sweet raspy high pitch sound normally around 5500-6000 I think

When street driving 2,000 to 2,400 rpm. Less rev. = less wear. 3:90 or 4:08 gears work great with low rpm shifting.

When racing 7,600 rpm.

Too much drag from really low RPM can lead to valve knock.

With gears it works fine. Since I drag race, the rest of the time I'm real easy on my car.
