Default How often do you check tire pressure?

This is probably a big failing on my part but I don't check it very often. I checked it this weekend and I was at about 30psi in my tires which is obviously too low. I'm wondering how often i should be checking it. When i took my car in to get it's oil changed I was told the pressure was too low as well. I don't want to get super **** about it... but if I check it every other week is that sufficient?

+1

the only time i switch off the TPS is when the fuel is going low (auto-moves to DTE display), and on long trips when i leave it on Avg. Mph/Mpg display

With TPS I check mine almost every time I drive.

I discovered it is important to check when there is a large change, say over 10 degrees, in temperature. Pressure will fluctuate & our tires ain't cheap!

i actually physically check mine every week. i have the tps but i can't be certain. I personally like the tires to be at 40 psi. found it great for handling and fuel economy and the tires for me seem to wear perfectly.

But then again i am stretching 225 on a 9 so i need to be ultra **** about the air pressure

This comes standard on the 05. I check mine maybe once a weak. And evertime I check the rears are off by 3. It's been like that since I bought it a month ago. I've been meaning to put air in it but once I get behind the wheel I forget all my worries.

I check mine everyday with the TPS. This is a must if you have low profile tires & larger wheels.

I check mine every other week. As the season starts to cool off I check more often since the lower temperture will lower the tire pressure.

Just curious... was it really necessary for 6 or so people to point out they had the tire pressure sensors? clearly, the point of the post was that I was checking them manually. I remember when I was reading the board 8 or 9 months ago when I was researching for my purchase there were a lot of complaints about the cost of replacing them when they went bad and how often they went bad. I'll check them every 3 or 4 weeks from now on. I was obviously neglecting this facet of car care.

Thanks for the replies.

After a car wash and a long trip when I warm up the car. That's almost twice a week. I carry a tire inflator in my roadster and I used it quite often.

FYI, the pressure drops about 1psi for each 10 degrees in temp. Always check tires cold and often.

Once every 1-3 weeks... amazingly, my tire pressure remains relatively the same with no evidence of slow leaks like other cars I've had (this one is garaged as opposed to the others). But still, I would've liked to have tire pressure sensors to do the job for me...

no sensors, and i manage to check them every day. i know that is a bit overboard. but i have a nice digital psi reading and its an easy way to max out the life of the tires, that along with alignments every 6 months or so.

I never check anymore. I used to, but they were never too low! Jiffi lube maintains them well enough.

I do check whenever I drive someone else's car. My friend's mercedes E500 was down to 14 psi on one tire! I told him a few days later, and he says "oh yeah, that one is flat or something."

If you let your tires get to 30psi you obviously aint doing a good job of vehicle maintenance. Check it often enough to maintain proper psi. Do you log on the internet and ask how often you need to fill up your car too?
