K&N Air Filter test
Someone care to break this down in 10 words or less?
I am assuming the K&N did well or it did terrible and just another marketing scheme to pay more for less!

" The stock filter will flow MORE THAN ENOUGH AIR to give you ALL THE HORSEPOWER the engine has to give. And this remains true until the filter is dirty enough to trip the air filter life indicator. At that point performance will decline somewhat. Replace the filter and get on with it. "

okay, but what about the flow of k&n vs stock?
what the "engine has to give" is something we are trying to change via mods. was the test done on a stock engine? sorry for being too lazy to read the article, and thanx for the thread.
ps: what's a filter-life indicator?

finally got around to reading the test. The K&N was poorest at particulate filtering, but we hp guys aren't concerned about filtering. We want max air flow, and the k&n was the best at doing that in the test, which means if we use hiflow air filters, we need to change oil more often and use high filtration oil filter to prolong the life of our engines.
ps: look at the "resistance to flow" graph at the bottom. k&n had the least resistance to flow of all the filters tested.

BUT, Our trucks CAN'T flow that much air unless super-modified, so what is the point? The stock filter will flow MORE THAN ENOUGH AIR to give you ALL THE HORSEPOWER the engine has to give.
