Should I rent a 350Z for a day?
It's my 18th birthday this Tuesday, and while searching for a new job, I came across a Budget office that rents a 350Z for $150 a day. Before other people reply, no, my mom or dad are going to be the ones renting it, not me, I'm not going to crash it or anything like that. Anyways, I'm getting my Z around Jan. or Feb., and would like to take it to school if we do rent it. I know people are going to talk s**t, but who cares, I will have mine 2 months after right? This would give me the chance to test drive the car for a whole day and practice on the 6spd so I don't mess my Z when it arrives, and I will be familiar with the car by the time I get mine. So should I or not? Oh, Its a silver track I believe.
amazing, i'm just turned 18 last wed. and i'm getting a lemans base z myself suppose to be here jan. The dealer called yesterday and said it might be here next week due to some ppl cancelling their orders! I just test drove a 6sp s2000 to learn manual and i did quite well. Start with some pos 5sp civic or eclipse because you have to work yourself up like I did. Its great fun, you have some much more control of the car and your much more concentrated while driving the car. If you like to relax its not the best to get though.
As for renting go for it! You can make sure 100% you want the car and it will be fun as hell. Just be sure to drop the clutch at 6,000 rpm and dog the crap out of it. After all thats what rental cars are for right?

Well I've driven some of my friend's manual cars a few times. Usually I'll drive one like once a month. I think I have it down, just need to practice my 1st gear starts a bit. Once I'm moving, I have no problems at all.

Go for it! Have a blast!
I rented one about amonth before I got mine, and even though I knew I was going to get the Z (though I was expecting to wait a couple more months) there is no better way to get a true feeling for the car. You can do all the things to it that you wouldn't want to do to yoru personal car, and see how it reacts. Of course, since you will most likely not be covered by the insurance (being 18) you will have to drive like a granny, so you wont have to buy a beat up Z if you wreck it.
