Driver killed in high-speed crash on Richmond

Toxicology tests have been ordered to determine if alcohol played a part in a fatal car crash early today, Houston police said.

The driver of a Mazda 350Z while traveling at high speed about 2:30 a.m. when he lost control of the car in the 6400 block of eastbound Richmond near Hillcroft, police said.
The unidentified driver, who was killed at the scene, struck another car then went over a curb and struck a tree. The force of the impact caused the car to spin and strike a light pole, police said.
A passenger in the Mazda was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.
