Default Cheaper If You Pay In Cash

I am looking to buy a 2003 Z and I am paying for it in cash. I am looking at ones for around $25,000. Do you think i will be able to talk them down alot since i am paying in all cash. If so how much.

Hell yeah. I got a steal on my roadster paying in cash. You should get it at least 10-15 percent cheaper.

Money talks my friend. Try and work it down lower, don't tell them exactly what you have, tell'em you have 23k in cash and want to make a purchase by the end of today. Then walk away...hehe Tell'em that it's not yer 1st choice of color but you'll certainly think about it. Good luck, let us know when you get yer Z.

I am a little naive when it comes to buying cars, but why would it matter 1 bit to the dealer if you paid in cash, pennies, credit card, traveler check, or site draft from a bank from your loan. Dealer gets paid the full amount no matter how you pay. Its not like because you are paying through a 3-5 year loan that the dealer has to wait 3-5 years to recieve payment for the car LOL. Can some one explain why cash makes a difference at all? BEN

You should get a good deal. But it's not because you're paying cash, it's because they know you're a serious buyer & an easy sell for them. Regardless of price, dealerships make more money on a financed deal.

+1, they also make more on a lease than through a cash deal. There are reasons for dealerships to accumulate cash, but in general, many dealers (especially the larger ones) would much rather you finance the car.

If you do finance it, do it through a credit union or deal with the financing company directly, there is no need to go through the dealership.

+1 I use to be in "In direct" auto lending (i.e. Bank working with dealer for Financing). There is a spread between what the Financer gives the dealer & what the dealer gives you. In otherwords the rate the dealer gets may be say 4.75 %. The rate your charged is 5.25%. The dealer gets the 0.5% difference.

You would think that with all the car buying guides on the internet, people would know all the dealer tricks by now. But if you look around, they REALLY don't. Old tricks die hard when it comes to dealerships...

LOL. Actually they don't die at all. It's like a family trait that gets past down from one generation to the next.
