I would like to suggest an alternative to slamming on your brakes and endangering yourself. Just turn on your flashers to warn someone they are getting too close, its a lot safer and less wear and tear on your peace of mind. Most people are just distracted and unaware they are getting too close and the flashers just give them a wakeup call.

I do understand your perspective about the Z, I'm way too **** retentive about it and just need to enjoy it. It is not alive, its a very nice car, but just a car.

Well Doc and the rest of you who said I was foolish and irresponsible for slamming on the brakes, you'll notice that I said by that point I DIDN'T CARE. Foolish? Yes. Irresponsible? Yes. Better way to handle it? Yes. I'll fully admit that I'm a dumbass for having too much testosterone to let some asswipe in a piece of **** jeep punk me like that but...you guys are telling me you have no problems letting somebody sit RIGHT on your *** flashing their highbeams at you? All I did was pass these fools after they PURPOSELY sped up, got in front of me, then SLOWED down. When I got the chance, I passed them (quickly, yes, but I gave him plenty of room), and they get on my *** and start tailgating me for that? **** THEM. I was aware of the possible consequences, I just refuse to get punked.

No, I don't normally drive like this. I've been in two accidents in 13 years of driving, both of them the fault of the woman who was driving the other vehicle. (And before someone jumps on me for THAT, I'm not saying women can't drive, both genders have their non-drivers, it just happens that the two accidents I was in, a woman hit my car. Coincidence.) I'm just saying there are people out there who are either A. jealous or B. ********, but in either case they'll **** with you just because they love to hate, and I for one ain't taking any **** from them. I prolly never should of started this thread, but that day was a LONG one, and I was just freakin' tired of dealing with ********. Of course I love my Z, and bad always comes with the good, so I'll just deal. Gotta go, Anger Management class starts in half an hour...

Default Ludicris...

This was all happening as he was pumping "Move *****" on the Blose stereo...

God I love that song, nothing like cruising in the Z blowing cars away with the flip of my wrist...

I have an idea maybe u should mount a machine gun atop of your Z so if someone starts to f**** with you on the road. You can blast them away!!

Well, we DO have .50 cal machine guns in the arms room...but I don't think Zaino would take well to them. :P

BTW, I'm in the Army, so this is normal. (The "having big guns lying around" thing)

Come on man. It was a Jeep. You're in a Z. Instead of hitting the brake, hit the gas and blow him away!

I thought of that Doc, and it's a good idea, but it's a 30 mph speed limit on post, and doing triple the speed limit on a military installation isn't a good thing. I don't think there's a law about stepping hard on your brakes though. And really, I didn't slam them on completely, this guy DID have room to stop, albeit I was counting on him to have fairly competent reflexes.

Doc, I'm only human, and far from perfect. I'm just going to try to avoid getting in this type of situation in the first place. It's just not that easy though because of the haters...

haha, I was thinking the same thing actually. But let's forgo that and just say that slamming on the brakes in front of someone is just plain childish. Just count yourself lucky you haven't done that to the WRONG person. Life is strange...be careful

edit: BTW, I'm from that area originally...usually the MPs aren't very forgiving with traffic violations (especially close to barracks). That was your first stroke of luck. While on Ft. Hood count them, I've seen what a couple of "tougher than thou" GIs can do to someone thinking they are in the right.

Default Hurray for the San Diego Z club (and others)

The San Diego Z club puts on killer autocrosses and their stewards, etc., went out of their way to help this neophyte autocrosser in an S2k develop a little skill. I've also been a member of or participated in events staged by other clubs, and very rarely do I find someone who isn't ready and willing to help you out. There are exceptions to every rule, of course, but I think club members are for the most part sincerely devoted to the advancement of the sport.

Yeah. Not long ago here a car quickly jabbed it's breaks because the guy behind was tailgating him.

The guy behind him was a wanna-be gangster who thought he'd show his friends in that car that he was hard *** by pulling out his pistol and taking a shot at the cars tail light.

The bullet went through the trunk and killed a girl in the back seat of the front car. The poor girl was only like 16 and was visiting one of her old friends from out of state.

Sad sad sad.

That sucks that you have had such bad experiances, but I guess we all have to pay to play if we own such nice cars. Life's not easy when u have something nice, because the world is full of people who want to make your life miserable for it.

I'm fine about people changing lanes in front of me.

But if the driver tailgates me extremely closely, and attempts to cut me off within close proximity.... I will downshift and floor it when the driver gets next to me.

I don't do that often... depends on the mood I'm in.

I could of floored it and dusted his ***, but I would of been pulled over in a heartbeat because of the 30 MPH limit. I was screwed either way I guess, although you can say I just could of ignored this guy, but as I'm sure a lot of people know from experience that's very difficult to do.

I've been known to downshift and speed off before in my previous life, but then I didn't want to endanger myself and others.

So what I do now (besides the occassional boost of petrol) is slowdown gradually and let the ******* pass me due to his/her impatience. On all occassions, they've gone pulled up and gone past, at which point I wave and smile. If they want to start some static then it's their loss as I am not opposed to kicking someone's ***.

People that have to resort to immature acts are just that, and unless they want to rise to the next level, I just let it go and laugh...
