I've heard that any leather or vinyl bra cover can damage the paint on a bumper and hood. I guess if it was wet or dusty outside enough grit would migrate under the cover to cause damage. Is this true?
I have seen a lot of discussion on the clear covers...some positive and some negative. Other than the fact that you can see a leather cover, does one or the other offer better protection?

from experience the leather one if it isnt maintained can end up damaging the paint. The clear ones are nice but they can run around like 800 bucks or in that type of price range. The only bad thing that i saw on the clear ones was that when my friend had it on his m3, some bugs and tar managed to get under there for some reason. He still has it on but cant wait to take it off

Yes, if you keep it on for long periods of time. Dirt, or even small dust particles will get under there, and will scratch and swirl your paint. If you keep it on all the time, you will notice paint fade differences in the covered and uncovered areas due to the sun.
Leather car bra's should only be used for road trips.
