Default Front Plate YAY or NAY?

My question is: If you mount the plate from the tow hook area in the grill, will it restrict airflow to the car to adversely effect cooling and performance?

Any thoughts?

I have done this and had no problems with airflow. None that I have noticed anyway...

My front plate is mounted right in the center of the grill using heavy duty ty-wraps and I have not had any cooling problems.. It looks great in this location and was very easy to mount..

Good Luck..

Default front plate mounting

I'm using Steve's method for the time being . There is a third way by drilling the plastic grille on either side of the tow hook , but I really don't want to drill anywhere on the car (for the future ) .Try the ty-wraps for the time being till a permanent more secure fix is manufactured by someone . Thanks Steve .

Default Front plate moutning

I got my 350 Performance Silver 6 MT last week and unfortunately I impulsively indicated I wanted the front marker plate mounted. I should have know they drilled holes in the bumper to make the srews fit. Connecticut requires front plates. Too late now.

So install yorself if you are adding the plate to the front.

Well the dealer refused to mount it, so went I get stopped I'll blame them.

But went they do stop me it's only 22 bucks here. One of these days I'll make something for the grill or maybe not.

I didn't have much choice on my plate being installed or not, but I did manage to come up with a solution. The only problem now is the scratches left behind from the orginal screws used to secure the dealer plate. Not only did they make the hold for the plate bracket, but they used screws that were too long for the plate. I'm sure I'm going to repaint the bumbper in a year anyway. -m

Thanks. $6 for the KYO touch up paint and $1.50 for the door clips (plastic plugs) from the dealer. Painted with touch up and used DC100 clear coat (tks to a friend who does auto repairs) to protect. Total costs... $7.50

btw, if you don't want to spent the $ on the clear coat. just stop by any auto body repair and ask for an empty can. You'll be very surprised how much is still left in the bottom. More than enough to use on the plugs and to use as touch ups for future. Just remember to compound and buff the touch up spot. Q-tips do the trick!

Cheers. -m

There is a thread where a guy did it already.. but I'm not sold. Something about transfering impact RIGHT TO THE FRAME doesn't sound like a great idea to me. Bumpers/etc are made to absorb impact.. putting a hard bolt right to the car's frame defeats that. I'd hate to see a 5-10mph impact cause serious damage outside the body/paint.
