Default short shifter???

This may have been discussd before, but I'm a newbie. Anyway, what are your opnions on the 6 speed shifter? I see that Nissan claims it has shorter throws than the M coupe or a Boxster. Ive tried the shifter in the Maximas over the years, and they always seemed a bit to rubbery, and the throws seemed long. I wonder if it will have the "click" feel ot the S2000 as well as the short shifts. Seems that Honda has mastered the manual tranny. Can any of you that have actually sat in the car add anything on this?

I don't think a Maxima comparison would be fair...to the Maxima.

I know some of you guys have had the luck of sitting in the thing. Anybody get some stick time in?

The transmissions in the Maxima and the Z are different and several references from Nissan indicate that the 350Z shifter will be among the best in the world. Here's hoping they're right.

without out a doubt Honda does make a great manual tranny. I have driven my parents accord and it was a joy to shift.

I'm sure that NISMO or another company will offer a shorter throw than the stock.

Default It will be the Best!

From Autoweek Feb 4, 2002;

"You didn't get to drive the six-speed manual," said Crahan. "The Z transmission will be the best you've ever seen. The S2000 is the best out there now, but the S2000 has no torque. When the Z car comes out it'll have the best shifter feel on the market, better than Porsche, BMW, everyone."

And I have read the reason the G35 Sedan will not get this trans until the end of the year is because they are putting the available units into the Z's first, and production will not meet demand until the end of the year.

Hopefully it will be as good as they say it is. Right now I like the Hurst shifters that come stock in the new Trans Ams. I know i've said that I don't like American cars, but I was looking at a WS6 with one of my friends, I had to give it a try. I couldn't resist. Hurst rules.
