Default Accidentally misshifted from 3rd to 2nd :(

Anyway, was "testing" out the Z late at night and accidentally misshifted from 3rd to 2nd at redline. The RPM's shot well into redline and I didn't know what to do. I braked really hard to get the RPM's and my speed down and everything seemed fine. I now know to hit the clutch really quickly next time a misshift occurs, but didn't know at the time.

This was a couple weeks ago and the Z seems to drive fine right now. Should I be worried that I messed something up?? Perhaps long-term repercussions? Thanks

rev limiters wont do anything when you miss shift.

that sucks. hopefully the engine didn't sustain any damange. a friend of mine did that on her rsx-s at the track and the tech at acura (who is a good friend of hers...luck for her if there had been any damage) that she hit around 9800rpm. but yea...nothing happened to her motor. a bunch of us got some good laughs at her expense though.

+1,
And I know that you can easily bend a valve overreving to much, but you'd know that a minute after you misshifted. Hopefully you got lucky and nothing happened.

might want to go get checked.. or check it yourself if you know how.. bad thing you could need a valve adjustment... worst case: you bent a valve

is the motor ticking loud at all?... i hope not

Well not much you can do about it now so worrying wont change anything if you did damage and nothing short of disassembling the engine to find out, so just keep on driving. Next time put the clutch back in right away.

Not to be too argumentative, but the rev-limiter still functions to cut fuel (and maybe spark, but there seems to be some argument over that) whether throttle pushes the engine up to the line or the transmission does it. Yes, the engine will over-rev, but at least there won't be any combustion going on in the chamber, so the stresses on the engine are greatly reduced.

I did that to mine on the way to the dealer for trade in. First time ever, it sounded really bad. Not my problem now. Hehehe.

This is.

I drove Dave079's Z, he doesn't know. Sorry Dave, just moved it. And realized that the CS had many issues since the accident.. It rode like ****, was too loud inside and had way to many problems. So I traded up.

The 3rd to 4th does feel kind of sloppy in the Z.

Dont worry about it.. The First stick I ever drove was my 99 Eclipse off the Lot..

Having never driven a stick before I put it in 1st gear doing 75 down the highway..

Engine Died...

Pulled off the road and started back up.. Everything was gravey I traded it in after 100K..
