Used
2003 Touring 6MT
$24,000
$9,000 Down
$300 per month
Since, I have never bought a car before I had my dad help me work with three different dealerships to get the price down to $24K b/c all asking prices where above $26K, got a great deal.
I recommend dealing with more than one dealership and seeing who is willing to go the lowest!

"I can honestly say I'm a bit surprised at how many people paid cash for their cars. You guys just saved it? Sold some stocks? Sold a house at profit?"
"im thinking maybe everything, retirement, sold some stuff for profit, and saving up.."
Never touch the savings nor the retirement accounts for anything except retirement. I just had a good day at the stock market in 2003. Yep, took the capital gains tax hit but it was worth it.

I'm more surprised about how many people like and/or are willing to discuss their finances over the internet with complete strangers.
If I know you in person, I don't mind telling you how I paid cash for my Z if you want to know. But outside of that, I don't feel the need to tell anyone the how and why of my pocketbook.

All I'm saying is that your rate is higher than I'd take. If I couldn't get better than that rate, I would try to buy a less expensive car either without financing, or financing a very small %. That's just me, though... I don't like paying an extra premium on top of already expensive things.
But do your own thing... I don't know or care about your credit history. Bottom line is, 7.9 is pretty high IMO. But if you're comfortable with that, fine by me.
Enjoy the Z my friend ...
