Proper Break In
I will be getting my Z around the 2nd week of January. I will have 1 week to break it in before taking it on a drive from Miami to NYC. If the car does not have the 1200 break in miles, is it ok to take it for such a long and far drive during break in period. Thanks.

That won't be a problem, just remember to vary the gears, RPMs and speed.
Break-in is kind of a hold-over from the older days of engine and transmission manufacturing anyway. There used to be a lot more rough edges and rougher surface finishes than there are today, because of the much higher machining speeds of todays CNC mills. Engine components have a much higher level of surface finish than they did years ago.
There are a lot of arguments that can be made that low RPM break-in isn't even necessary. For example, aluminum aircraft engines are broken in by running them in a variety of conditions including high RPM and extended running at cruising RPM. The point is drive your car, don't punish it, but don't worry about it. As long as you aren't leaving it in 6th gear all day long, or running it up to redline every 2 minutes, you aren't likely to hurt anything.

I wouldn't worry about it. Try to get as many break-in miles as you can in before you go. Then just remember to vary revs. I don't want to be the only to tell you this but you could have used the search button re: break-in .

Yeah, here's a whole discussion on the subject. Unfortunately, no hard conclusion. As the others said, take the side roads, not the interstate. If you must drive for long periods at the same speed, change from 6th to 5th gear occasionally.
