Dealer letter: I want your car
I've gotten three or four of these letters in the past few months. They look kinda of form-letter like.
Essentially, my local dealer says they want my Z because folks often ask for used versions, especially in my color. (Yeah, I know, what a load of sh*t).
They offer a great financing rate for a trade-in deal.
I have no interest in doing this - I just refinanced my way out of a crappy lease deal. And I like the car I have.
My impression has been that interest in used versions is not that strong right now. I tried to trade the car in last year for something else and didn't get a great quote.
Nice try, though, dealer man!

When i worked for honda a while back this is what the salespeople would tell me why they do those things..
1. they make money off your trade in you get less than what you paid...
2. they sell the car for more than you trade it in for...
3. they try to get you to buy a new car so if you finance its more money for them also..

it's easy if you just remember this......everything from car dealerships is designed to screw you and benefit them. Generally, every newspaper ad and commercial that dealerships make is all lies and just made to get you in the door. With the exception of factory advertised cash incentives, anything that dealers put out making it look like you'll get discounts or some kind of $$$ incentive is crap. My dad who sold cars for years said he and the other salesmen would laugh their a$$es off when people would come to the dealership with the newspaper ad wanting to buy the car that was supposedly "$5000 off".
Yeah I got that same letter a month ago. The funny part is that I got my Z in March, for the b-day, and now my girl got almost 10K on it. I don't think they would want my car back! Then again, I don't want to give them my car back regardless!
Hummer does this too, my wife bought a used 2001 Xterra at Hummer dealer 2 years ago. Now with the H3 out they were send us a buy back thing and we could get a H1 H2, & H3 for great prices. Since I am not in the market for anything right now it doesn't matter. I still have yet to get on from Nissan. I am 2 months short of 1 year with my Z.
Got one for my 03 Touring Redline...
I also got one for my sons Ford Focus, My Ford Expedition, and even an old Ford Thunderbird I sold a few years back...
These type of letters started for me a few months ago, about 3 or 4, and now are coming in on a regular basis. Straight to the trash.

I got one of these awhile back for my '99 Cougar. At first, I just skimmed it, and I thought they would give me a car on the lot for mine, but when I reread it I realized what they were doing. I dont want to give my car up until I get a Z-they dont make Cougars anymore and I like the Cougar.
