Bad driving maybe? First thing, get rid of those tires. No way thats going to cut it in the snow. I have about 300HP at the wheels and have little trouble in the snow with my traction control on. With it off..FORGET IT.. Ive driven the last two winters with little or no incidents at all. Thats on summer only tires, So stop whining.. go buy Blizzack LM22?(Is that the right model for you guys?) and be happy! Snow isnt all that bad.

If it gets really shitty out.. just drive with your head and you will be fine. PS most T56 (6speed) Z28 owners start off in 2nd gear in the snow..its suppose to be easier to take off.

I have a stall converter and I still take off relatively ok in the snow.. Its all driver and your tires. Cheers!

As a follow up........

When I made that original post, it was from work. However, I had not made the awful drive home in 6-8 inches of snow. I thought it was bad in 4 inches. Granted, I don't blame the car. I could never say anything bad about it. I blame the light weight in the back and the stock tires. I will be investing in some snow tires within the week. I will also be buying 50 pound bags of sand for the trunk.

As for the people who said they had no problems. I really didn't have to many problems on flat surfaces. Once i had momentum, I could manuever across the snow ok. The problem was when there was any incline. I just could not make it up hills. The Dwheels would just spin. If i had the TCS on, they would stop me from spinning, but i still wouldn't make it up the hill. At one point, it took me 20 minutes to go 300 feet on an incline. But, I think the snow tires and trunk weight should fix this.

A couple times when i was heading down the highway, I would be driving straight in the right lane (at about 20 MPH), and the *** end would just start sliding to the right. I would steer and recover it, but it was quite a pain in the ***, and very nerve racking.

I won't go into how I got stuck on a side road and had to have my friend push me by hand to a better plowed road.

I don't care how good a driver anyone thinks they are. On a hill with the stock tires in heavy snow/slush, this car just isn't going to make it up.

I think it just comes down to the fact that snow tires will be a must for about 3 months in this area. I think I'll be picking up some Blizzaks this week.
