OK we have some fellows that are interested in how GB's are started. Me being one also. Can someone go through the steps on how this process actually starts and what to expect??

well when i had my 86, i wanted to do a GB (Group Buy) i called a manufacturer asked if they would make a deal if i purchased so many of their units.. they told me that i needed atleast 20 units... so i told people about it on the forums... got 20 payments from the people that wanted in... once i had recieved all the payments.. i placed the order, when i recieved the items i then mailed them out to the people who paid me...

Expect...

1. delays in payments, and manufacturing time
2. complaints
3. pain in the *** customers
4. and ill say it agian COMPLAINTS! no one is ever happy

I don't think they are allowed anymore on this board. This is the only board I visit where that is the case. Pretty lame, "they are trying to protect the vendors". Make sure you visit some of the other Z sites as well, GB's are allowed.

buzzard, you cannot compare this site to the other 350Z sites, this is the largest 350Z forum there is. Until the other one's are anywhere near as large, you could compare.

GB process...
1.) Start a feeler and see how many you can get interested and what kind of discount they are wanting.
2.) Contact someone to get the actual GB done through (on this forum, it has to be a sponsor, on other forums, this can be anyone) and tell them what discount you are looking at and how many are interested.
3.) Start the GB and lay out the details clearly.

That's about all there is to it.

In other words, start a feeler here and at the other Z sites. When you have enough interest, start the GB at one of the other sites.

There is one that seems to be gaining ground. :-)

Non-paying members can take part in GBs here. Only vendors or premier members can start the GB though. Non-paying members have to PM the thread starter.

And I think the new rule over on ********** about the GB director not being able to handle any money is going to hurt the amount of GBs done over there.

How are non-paying members able to take part in a non-vendor group buy? Group buys were moved to the Premier forum where regular members can not access. And, when was it decided that only vendors or premier members can start a group buy? I never heard Godzilla make that rule. Actually, I haven't heard him say anything about this issue that has been screwed up for months.

The short answer is, if you want to do a group buy, do it on another forum. And, if you're interested in doing a purchase, you're probably better off getting vendor information from another forum as well. This forum's membership suffers because of bad policy regarding group buys and vendor feedback.

Regular members can see threads posted in the premier forum. The premier member who does the GB can post a thread about it in the forum pertaining to it and anyone can view it. Only premier members can reply. Regular members can still PM the thread starter though. It wasn't, that's the only way it is happening right now though.

Don't think that's correct. Try accessing the Premier forums as a regular member (create a new account if necessary) and I think you'll find a lack of access.

I didn't say you could access the forums, but, if you can get a link to a thread within the premier forums (maybe just the GB section), you CAN view it, but NOT reply.

Hmm, guess I'll have to check that out later. Whatever the case, it remains a substantial loss if regular members are not able to post a group buy short of signing up for premier membership. At any rate, thanks for your response.

NP, i'm not a moderator or admin though, just telling you what i've experienced so far.

BTW, doesn't matter if you have a vendor review section, people are still going to post what they want, where they want to. (after being on the forum this long, i'm sure you know this, this is why I do searches instead of going through a forum section) I understand that you think we need a section for this, and I agree. BUT, we need more moderator IMHO that actually do something if we want to add forum sections and make this forum better/more organized.
