somebody else pointed it out, it was an hov lane that the van was stalled in. And yeah i agree that the guy filming was doing so b/c it was an accident waiting to happen.

i love my z, but i try to drive as little as possible in traffic or on weekend nights/holiday traffic - sometimes it just seems like these things are unavoidable. please be careful out there z family!!!
oh yea, if you're in a van, and you're stalled, in the hov lane, and the far right hand lanes are closed, and its night time... put on your hazards!!!!
to me it looked like only the parking brakes were on the van, and the first car couldnt really tell that the van was stopped (no heavy brake lights - nor the hazards)... but the second car that plowed into the van the second time - no excuse.

Maybe there was something wrong with the way the construction crew set up the lanes and by the time it caught the drivers eye it was too late. I mean the cars keep crashing..something just doesn't seem right. Its also possible that there was a horrible blind spot like when going up a hilly freeway and then not seeing the other side of it. Just a thought......
I try to stay away from driving on holidays and weekend nights. There are way to many drunk drivers out there and it seems no matter how often people are told not to do it..it still happens....
I hope everyone in that video was ok.
The video isn't that bad...just cars that keep crashing. You don't really see too much. I agree though..this is no place to post suicide videos. I prefer not to watch stuff like that...

I saw this a few days ago and my first thought was, put down the f'n camera and try to slow people down. A camera with a big light on the side of the road is a nice distraction in itself. Somebody needed to get some flashers on, starting waving people down and of course get the cars once the scene calmed down. There's nothing eductational about the video, nothing to learn from it... other than getting your tape on the evening news or the internet. Just put the f'n camera down and help. Not saying the guy could have changed once single thing, but we'll never know 'cause he just choose to stand and gawk with the vidcam. :/
I'm as impressed with the display of physics as anyone. But thats less important than people's lives. I dont know all the circumstances here, but it appears the camera man is an arsehole for 'setting up for a crash' he knows is coming.

As for the video, I was wondering why they didn't try to flag people, but who's to say that the driver's wouldn't concentrate on the them and then not have enough time to even hit the brakes . . . I could see me being the camera guy yelling & waving "there's an accident ahead!" Only to have the idiot look at me and say "Whaaa *CRASH*?"

that was crazy.... horrible.
I didn't see anyone turned on their emergency lights, that would have helped, and people need to learn to slow when there is construction zone.

omfg... that truck and mustang got owned... I felt sorry for the driver of it when i saw him just sittn there unconscious from what it looked like.
Why was everyone having such a hard time stoping? So anyone catch the total count of cars messed up?
That vid reminds me of this one bad accident one, where it was on a patch of ice, and NOONE could stop, and it was just like everyone sliding into eachother for 30mins straight.
