2nd gear grind on my 05
My 2nd gear will grind if I shift very fast near redline. No other gear does this. I took it to the dealer a week or two ago and they said they didn't notice the problem (probably shifted too slow/too low RPM). It doesn't do this every time, maybe 1/3 or 1/4 fast shifts.
I tried swapping the tranny fluid out with Redline GL-4 synthetic, but it still does it.
Any other ideas to help?

Glad I'm not the only one. I have the same exact problem on my 05. I used to think it was just me. If I take time to shift a little slower it doesn't do it, but when shifting fast near redline like you said, it happens.

Just read the thread for yourself. There's a detailed description and also
mpeg audio clip of that noise.

hey guys, I've got an 05 6MT G35 coupe... same exact problem on the 1-2 shift... only has 700 miles on it and just started doing it today... did it 4 times in one half-hour drive... another G35 owner commented that he has this and switched to mobil 1 fluid and it all went away... i've read many good things about the BG Synchro Shift fluid, it apparently has helped many grinding DSM trannies become normal again... is there any update on this, any proven fixes?
I know that 2nd gear has a triple cone synchro... supposed to make that shift super easy, kind of ironic that it's the only one causing problems :-(

My 03 was grinding on 3rd, no matter how fast or slow the shift would be.. I took it to the dealer out here (Universal Nissan), to get a oil change and the advisor ends up stating that the tranny needs to be changed and that its under warranty... That made me smile, and now I have to thank Kennia over at Universal Nissan in LA..
