Default Wow: This Seems All To Common

I also have the same problem on my 05 when shifting to second. I took the car to the dealership and the shop foreman drove the car. He said he could reproduce the problem but it was still up to nissan specifications. Which made me feel at ease for a while untill i visited this site and read all the posts about the gear grinding

it does seem possible that this 05 1-2 shift problem could be different than the 03-04 2-3/4-5 problem... my car only has 700 miles, the problem is it took me 5 months to get that many... i hardly ever get to drive it (obviously) and so if i have to wait until 5k miles or something until it goes away, I'll be dead by then!

at what mileage did yours go away? did it just all of a sudden go away or did it gradually get better? i've read that triple cone synchros can take more time to break in... I've also read that different fluid can make a night and day difference... i'm strongly considering some different fluid (like the BG Synchro Shift II) to see if it doesn't clear it up sooner...

My 5th gear started grinding at around 15k miles but I brought it used with 12k miles. The grinding then stoped for a few months. First the gears starting getting stiff. It took more work to get it into gear but it didn't grind. Then the grinding starts but only at high rpm, then it grinds at all rpm.

I have about 16k on my 05, but don't have any grind problems. Going into 2nd gear is a little stiff when trying to shift at 6400 RPMs in 1st, but still goes into gear without any grinding + plus a nice clunk sound.

Other than that, my Z is still in 1 piece.

Maybe hte ones grinding are built in the Opamma plant. lol
Tochigi has quality right?
I think someone told me that nissan doesn't even make the transmissions, so why would one transmission work and not the other..its weird.
