Default The Wash Tub

When I bought my Z the dealership gave me a year free car washes at The Wash Tub. Does any one know if these places or OK or will this harm the paint?

in San Antonio, none of those wash tubs in town are worth it ( lived there for 4 years). if you want scratches int he paint, take it there. had this problem with my eclipse, i went there once (over on Walzem). never went there again.

I wouldn't trust them. 3 words, DIY. But since they are free, drive by and check them out, it might be touchless. But then you have to have the helpers dry your car with who knows what kind of dirty filthy rags they use.

Your begging for Swirls and scratches.

If it was me, I would use the touchless and say no thanks to the workers drying as long as its touchless. Do not get wheel cleaner or have them pre-wash your car either.

You prob got 12 free washes which equates to about $120.00 Not worth the headache.

Typical dealer ploys and gimmicks! They prob paid half that!

i will never take my Z to a carwash with a tunnel
too many risks involved
1. scratching of rims
2. big *** brushes scrubbing against my Z
3. i can do a better job with my eyes closed

anyway, when i bought the Z my dealership (Courtesy Nissan) did a free Perma Plate job on my car.....its kind of like a fancy wax for the inside and outside of the car...it helps with UV rays on the outside.....well when it was done my car looked like it belonged in a showroom it was shiny inside and out

Well i was really pleased. the perma plate guy came to my house and did the job the 2nd week i had the car, and even gave me a free package of the perma plate products ill post pics later...p.s. My shift **** and dashboard is probably the shiniest out of all the Z owners on this board

that comment was a bit too much and totally uncalled for

the way wash tub does their work is they first vaccum the car, then it goes to the pre-brush scrb, this is a guy that takes those brushes you see at the do it yourself washracks and hits the sides, front and rear (sucks if your car follows a truck that had mud). then it gets hooked up to the conveyor and pulled through the wash. afterwards they pull out to the finish area and dry it off. the towels they use are clean, but not good quality and look scratchy as hell.

As far as getting your moneys worth. I have a 05 Xterra. I take it to the wash every week. I would get my moneys worth, but maybe I will do my Z myself.

Only take beaters to the car wash... if you value and respect your car it should be hand washed using a good quality wash mitt. Washing your car by hand doesn't even take much longer than taking it to the car wash...

Make sure you rinse the mitt in a fresh water bucket when it gets any dirt spots on it. Hand wax it every 2 months at least unless you Zaino it for superior protection.

also use the 2 bucket wash method , or one bucket with a grit gaurd. With the two bucket wash method , rinse out the glove or whatever it is into a water bucket, before going into the soap bucket to get more soap and back to the cars paint.
