I have had my Z mistaken for a Tiburon and a Porsche. People here don't even know what a G35 is. The closest Infinity dealer is in Sac like 2 hrs away.

I don't think it was racism really....I'm a brother of color and I can tell you that if I ride thru the "hood" (which I usually DON'T)....My Z will go virtually unnoticed because it's NOT riding on 20 inch spinners and doesn't have a jumbo rear spoiler, license plates made out of metal chains, and fuzzy dice on the dash. Oh yeah....it doesn't bounce up and down at a stop light either...LOL

A LOT of Young females...both black and white ...seem to like guys who ride something all pimped out.... just like you see on MTV's "Pimp My Ride". I could care less b/c...I'm not looking to impress a hoochie mama ...I want the REAL women with STYLE AND CLASS to notice me...lol

You have to start hanging out in better areas. Rap video chicks don't even register on the IQ scale. LOL

But once an older woman was staring at the car as I was comming back from the store. She asked me if it was the new Crossfire!!!

Just remeber, you are the one that decided to bring the ole race card into play.

I was going to say... Racism towards "chicks straight out of a rap videos" and "ghetto hoochies" is a terrible thing, and a deep problem in this country.

I had a homeless guy come up to me at a gas station asking for change while I was filling up, I told him I didn't carry any change on me, so he walked away and said "Nice Car! What is it?" I said 350z... and he says "Nice! looks like a Porsche!"

I thought I was buying a porche when I realized it was a Z. I fell in love with it so I got it anyway. So I'm kidding, can't see how anyone could get the Z mixed up with a G or Porche.

+2. I sure d/n assume the "hoochie mama" in question was of any particular race, and while I personally can't stand rap, no one can deny that hip-hop culture, language and dress (not just the CDs) is so common with younger people of all races and creeds these days that you can't make that kind of assumption. The original poster was commenting on ONE person's appearance, ignorance and conduct, not her color.

AAAAND to change to a lighter mood, I've frequently gotten the Porsche remarks, but am I the only one to have people think (w/o having seen your car, during a conversation) that when they ask you what kind of car you drive and you just say, "a Z," that you mean a BMW Z4? Man, that P.O.'s me!

Probably the funniest one I've ever gotten was by a dude flipping burgers who ran out of the kitchen at a Sonic drive-in to ask me if my "Ferrari" had 800 hp. At first I thought he was just making fun of my car, but after talking to him for a couple of minutes, I found out he was serious!!

Let me say this. In this post, we have several examples of race relations in America, circa 2005. In the past few years, political correctness has certainly affected the way people talk. In an effort to not "offend" Black people, people not of the Black race have come up with what I call "code words".
Here are some examples:
Ghetto = Of poor quality, therefore related to Black culture
Straight up ghetto hoochie = Any Black woman that isn't Halle Berry or Beyonce
Rap Chick = See above
I see some people have come to the original posters defense, saying that "well, he didn't say Black, so that woman could be of any race". But he knew he could'nt say she was Black, because that might be considered racist. So instead, he used code words (rap, ghetto, hoochie) to paint a picture. That way, if somebody called him on it, he had an out. If I said that I got in a street race today with a Dodge 4X4 driven by some trailer trash hillbilly, you all would assume he was White, right? Same thing! If somebody thinks I'm wrong, tell me why...

I don't necessarily disagree with your premise - sometimes people do speak in codewords - but I do so with your examples...

I'm going to guess he didn't say 'Black' because that wasn't the important characteristic he was trying to point out... it was her look and attitude.

I'm also going to guess that she probably was Black (not so much cuz of the "ghetto hoochie" comment, but moreso the 'rap chick' thing... most of the girls I've seen in rap videos lately are Black), because if she was white it might've been more unusual to him and he would've said... 'white rap chick' or something... but hell, maybe that's just me and where I'm from.

And btw - your last example. You are right, I would assume the guy was White. So what? I mean.. if he was Black, you probably would've mentioned that since it would've been more unusual... right?

So what? So what? It's not a crime to realize people have different skin colors is it?

I think you jumped the gun on this one, a LOT.

Default A general statement

You have no facts to back up a comment like this, and that’s how a lot of the members post on here. There are a few of knowledgeable people that post USEFUL info and an even more immature non real enthusiast that post BS. (Can you even change your own oil?) A lot of them post messages referring to cultures to say they are just plain inferior. I don’t have to prove to YOU that you are racist. Look in the mirror.

And don’t connect mine to any others comments on this thread.

**********************************************************

I'm gonna add my 2 cents ...but hopefully it's worth MORE as it might give you a little insight...coming from a brother of color.

The Rap/Hip-Hop Phenomenom has basically spread like a virus within the younger generation...And just like the AIDS virus, it's infected people of all races. Sooo...There are Black, White, Asian, Puerto Rican, and even Indian and Russian kids who wanna dress and act JUST LIKE their rap superheros.

As far as "Ghetto"....and "Ghetto Hoochie"....This is NOT confined to the Black Population, by ANY MEANS. I live just outside of Philly, in NJ...and I can tell you that there are PLENTY of BONEFIDE GHETTOS where White families live, who birth little girls who grow up to be as "Ghetto Hoochie" as anything you've seen on TV.

If you DON'T believe me ...take a ride thru the Cramer Hill Section of Camden, NJ ....or ANY of the bad neighborhoods of North or West Philadelphia.
