Expected time range on ordrring a car
Worse case scenario....
Asuming I would have to special order my car first week of Feb. 2006 and asuming it has to come from Japan, as opposed to being on a lot someplace here in the U.S. how many months can I expect to have to wait for my car?
3-4?

Yup, 3 - 4 months. Dealers only place orders once a month, usually during the first week. If you go in and order a car during the second week or the month, your car won't actually get ordered from the factory till the first week of the next month. At that point the 3 month "official" wait begins. That's why they tell you 3 months minimum.
If what you order happens to match a car on a ship that arrives some time before the 3 month period, that car can be used to fill your order so in theory you could get it in less than 3 months.

Talk to the ordering person at the dealership. Most order near the beginning of the month, if you get in after they order, you'll probably have to wait until the next month.
After they order, it takes about two months from build to delivery. (example: 02/05 build, 04/05 delivery)

Thanks for the help guys.
I hope I don't have to special order one because honestly there ain't no way in hell I can wait until May to drive it, although waiting would have a finicial upside in my case but mostly waiting would suck. Plus, I want to get rid of my current vehicle before it craps out.
If I absolutly can't wait on ordering one, I might have to go with an Enthusist model, though all I want is the base model and the Enthu would be pushing my limits of what I want/can spend and would cut into my mods on top of that. I do not want to spend over $30,000 out the door for a new Z which essetianlly limits me to the base model, unless by some miracle there is an '05 sitting somplace collecting dust but I'm not holding my breathe on that happening.
Anybody know off hand which trim level Z's sell the best? I thought I heard someplace that the base model was sold more than the others? Probably pretty close to the Enthusiast?
My second choice for a new car I would probably have to special order that one too, unless I chose to go with an aftermarket ground kit but I don't want to end up buying my second choice car, that's why it's my second choice car.
Too bad these things weren't made here in the U.S.

The best selling trims are the Enthusiast and the Touring. The Base is probably the least popular model - it's missing Cruise Control, TPS, VDC, 18" wheels, etc. (Some of that might have changed for 05, 06).
I had a hard time finding a Daytona Blue Performance so that's why I ordered mine. It was worth the wait as I got exactly what I wanted - no compromise!
