The stock seats not for big guys?
Anybody in here in the 6 foot 240 pound range find that the stock seats are somewhat unforgiving? I was sitting in a 2004 base model (trying to find reverse lol) with 13,000 miles and noticed that the side bolsterings at the a$$/hip area are hard as a rock due to the metal sub frame virtually directly under the fabric.
I found in order to not feel like I was in a torturte rack, I had to take my wallet out because with it in, it forced my wallet into my a$$/hip and made the seats even more unforgivng. Even with my wallet out, I could see where that metal framing could be a bigger problem in the future as the seats break down more over time.
Hopefully the '06's will have more forgiving seats, otherwise guess I would have to buy aftermarket seats again and I don't look foreward to that.
And please spare me the oh if you want cushy seats buy a Caddy crap. I like how the seats hold me in, just wish they were a tad less aggresive, in that section.
OMG they won't let you say a$$ in here:-O
That F%$#ing blows:-P

I'm not a big guy, 5'7" 140lbs and even I know what you mean. The bosters on the sides interfere with my lats pinching me in a bit if I try to sit back all the way. And I also find myself taking my wallet out.
I'm not quite as big as you...but I have had the same issue with my wallet. To be honest, after the first week I owned the car, I got over the seat itself...and I've found that the wallet thing only happens to be after sitting in the car for several hours or if my wallet gets shifted into a bad position.
In the long run, the seats will sort of conform to you...so I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm about your size and it's exactly the same for me. The back of the seats bite my butt on trips. I pull my wallet but it still feels like there's something sqeezing my butt cheeks together in some sort of slow Japanese torure ... we'll get those big butt Americans!
I'd toss a pillow between the two bolsters but I'm already too high in the window - the rear view mirror looks down at the street about 100 feet behind me rather than into the distance. The Z fit me much better than the Audi TT or Boxster did.

I thought I was the only guy that feel my butt was uncomfortable with my wallet in the rear. Ever since I had the Z, I always carry my wallet in the front pocket.
Btw, I am only 5'9, 170lbs.

Hmmm, i am about your same size, and I get the wallet feeling every once in a while, but other than that I got over the whole seat thing after day one. Then again my trips are relatively short(about 20 min per trip;School, work, etc.) But I did drive to lake Havasu and didnt notice a problem at all. What kinda pants are you wearin, maybe its the actual cut of the pockets on em.
I am 6' and 270 and have driven my car allll day long on several occasions...I have a base 04 and am extremely comfortable in it...I haven't carried my wallet in my back pocket for a longggg time now so I dont have that problem...the seat sides are snug but not bothersome...I am considering taking the Z from Boston to Myrtle Beach this fall..I feel right at home in the drivers seat..of all the 2seaters out there...the Z is the only one that gave me the shoulder room and head room that I needed.....enjoy

Here is a random mediacal fact for you. Ditch the wallet for a money clip[ or nothing at all. Having a wallet in your pants affects the way you sit in most situations wetehr you realize it or not. This can result in back muscle fatigue and pain by the end of the day. Most people are so used to sitting wrong bc of their wallet they dont even think about it.
I guess everyone is different, but for what it's worth I'm ~240 and 6'2", and I love these seats. They're pretty stiff, but that ends up being a good thing since they support you instead of requiring you to brace yourself (as in other cars I've driven for long periods).
I've gone over 1000 miles in one sitting a few times, a few hundred miles at other times, and I never had any problems with the seats. (Except the material falls apart!) The problems I have had on the really long trip is that my elbows needed support, so I built up a towel and sweater for that, and I needed to pad the side of my right knee.
I have never put my wallet in my back pocket, though. It's just always been uncomfortable.

Maybe instead of the seats, it's the wallets! I know my wallet is hella uncomfortable but thats because sometimes there's loose change. Maybe you guys should try getting a money clip.
Edit: damn you gatti-man.

i think the problem may be the seats. Ive noticed everyone whos got a gripe seems to have a base model. Ive sat and driven in most of the models and have found the cloth seats to be very thin and uncomfortable. i have a touring and have found that you cannot feel anything under the leather. so maybe its the seat material and amt of cushioning on the seat in the base models that causes a problem.
I think ZinFla has a point. I have the ventalated seats, and the seating surface isn't a problem. What is a problem, is the width of the seat. I have a wide back and shoulders, and can barely fit into the seat. I went with the mesh because my back would'nt fit into the regular seat. I'm 5'10 and about 210lbs, probably spending too much time at the gym.
Stock seats aren't for average guys either. Im 5'10 155 31 waist and the sides don't even huge me. I slide all over the place when I'm taking turns. I wish Zs came with real racing seats like the STi. We paid just as much as them.

I think you may be right because I sat in a brand new Touring model with leather of course and I didn't feel any discomfort, even with a wallet.
