OFFICIAL ’06 350Z Changes & Photo Library Release Aug 15

Look everyone......car models change continuously from year to year. Some year the changes are bigger, some year not, but it is inevitable. Porsche has boosted the power output of the 911 every two years since the mid 1990's. The current Z is great car. 2006 will have changes, and so will 2007, 2008, etc. then there will be a new Z entirely. It will never stop. Be happy with what you have. The Z rocks!

If you haven't yet, I strongly urge you to lower your clutch pedal height. It made a world of difference for me...and if your car is so young, the tranny might not fully be broken in yet.
I've also found a few tips that greatly improve the one>two shift:
1. Wait for your car to warm up before attempting any high speed shifts.
2. Apply pressure on the stick towards the driver's side during the shift to counteract the self-centering spring.
3. Stay in the gas when pressing the clutch to keep the revs up. If you completely lift off the throttle, the engine will drop below the optimal shift point, because this a close ratio transmission.
It's counterintuitive I know, but it's worked for others and myself. Good luck and let me know if it helps.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Z. I wouldn't trade it for any other car...besides a better Z Hell if the 2009 one is anything like this one...I will more than likely have that be my next car. I just wish the shifting was smoother. And I do do all those things you listed except the clutch pedal lower.
And about the payments, I meant for the same length of time. No way would I add a year or two on. That is jsut stupid. I am not that financially inept.

HOLY SH**!! I adjusted the clutch...it DID make a huge difference. It is a lot better to drive now. It isn't jerky engaging or anything.
I still, obviously, have the problem with the gate though, that is something I fear I'll always have lol. I will just have to get a better grasp on the shifter I guess.

Is there a DIY on this clutch pedal mod? I was messing around with a 2004 and noticed that the clutch required a lot of force to depress it and it was not a constant pressure. The pressure required would get lighter when all the way to the floor. Then when releasing the clutch, it would be easy at first, then would act like it wanted to go really fast and spring back in your face (so to speak) due to the higher pressure by the return spring.
Is this what you guys are talking about by lessing the travel to lesson the effect of the stiff spring? If I could have either less travel or less pressure needed, that would be cool.

Never mind I found the thread. Sounds like it will make a huge diff in driving comfort, especially in traffic.

Granted, this thread has REALLY changed subject. I giveup on hearing from Dave about the 2006. Looks like I'll just have to be patient and read about it like everybody else on Monday morning.
I know it was alot to ask from Dave, but I figured since he specifically didn't tell us the info...he would have only had to say true or false on info we already had.
Oh well,

Sorry, I really can't say. Sunday night at 9 p.m. Pacific (midnight Eastern) is the earliest Nissan allows the press--including Sport Z Magazine--to release the information. That said, the dealer who allowed the information above to be released could/should be reprimanded by Nissan if they decide to go to such lengths. In any case, we'll have the largest library of photos of the 2006 350Z available on internet.
