a few first comments. while the exterior changes are there i think only us "Z" people are gonna make a big deal out of it.

ok the interlagos fire color is ok. looks like that black cherry special edition Rx-8 color. that coupe has to be silverstone and not the new silver alloy, right?

the Rays wheels. kind of a let down. although there is nothing wrong with them they look like the now Standard 18 "Anniversary" wheel with a lip and the 3 dot motif. i do like that finished introduced on the 35th. its shiney but doesnt carry the stigma that chrome has begun to have.

the staggered set up does look good in that one pic! so basically all the Z sare gonna have a similar wheel. but they stagger will help set the track and GT off from the rest

headlights and tail lights I DIG! nothing but good things to say. i love that top part of the headlights with the little see through window thing cut out instead of all chrome like ours . the taillights are cool but 6 months from know you wouldnt care.

the interior looks better over all but i dont like the raised area around the shifter. looks like it would be hard to rest your wrist there

the stereo read out looks different as well. wonder if that whole center piece can be switched out?

ok is the nismo Z a factory option now? the pic on there shows it but with no front lip ( im assuming because of the bumper restyle) that means the US spec lip wont fit the new bumper i guess?

In my personal opinion the NISMO JDM looks much BETTER!

Some nice thing, some 'eh' things ... overall, just a typically year-to-year change. The interior changes are going to add some work to all those Dash Kit Manufacturers though ...

old track wheels look like 16s

im betting the reason that red Z doesnt have a lip is because the US Nismo lip wont fit the new bumper, and a newbie hasnt been released yet. I too think the JDM Nismo is alot nicer than US spec

The plus:
Rev-Up engine
Interior, extra cup holder, center console.
New stereo with mp3
New steering wheel with audio control
larger brake, new wheel on non-track model.
bi-level xenon

The minus:
headlight chrome area
tail light led out of pattern
front lower chin
track wheels

overall:

. . .

Mostly dissapointed here. Looks like a corporate "design by committee" team made the changes/updates, when they should have gone back to the original winning design team. IMO, the Z was the most successful transition from concept to finished car yet acheived by a major manufacturer. All this crap (besides the mechanical changes) looks cheap and tacked on—not in keeping with the original design.

Exactly my sentiments, which I posted on the original thread containing the Stillen Meet pictures.

Ah, yes, I remember reading that thread and hoping along with you that this it was just prototype fit and finish. The wheels are a mistake in my eyes as well...they look like they belong on a pony car and the staggered size F/R looks funny at different angles on a short wheelbase car.

Correct! The Original Design Team spent countless hours perfecting the Production Designs. Every detail was accounted.

But now, most of the new changes, look like the work of amateurs!

I couldn't agree with you more, the new Track/Rays wheels are pathetic. Then again, they want to justify the $$ on their USDM Nismo version. I am sooo happy I bought the 2005.

What they should have done with the Ray's is refine the originals with a nicer finish. Something like this.

Does the fact that we have pictures now mean that we'll be seeing these on the lots in the new future?

Imho it seems they've purposely made the OEM's look ugly so people will buy the Nismo's which is a much nicer looking wheel, again imo. I know that's not the case but sorry the wheels have got to go.

From the pictures, I can't even tell the rear wheel is bigger then the fronts...

PS: I also think the new bi-xenon headlights with that thingy on the lip makes the Z look like herbie. Last thing I want my car to be labeled as is "cute".

I think it is the most obvious in these two:

I dunno im definitely not feeling those new Rays wheels either. They look kinda cheap for a supposed "high end" lightweight wheel. The older design with a 10" width would have been perfect. Maybe now that they have a 19" wheel, the 19" LMGT's will become available here.
