Default OFFICIAL ’06 350Z Changes & Photo Library Release Aug 15

Sport Z Magazine has the complete library of 2006 350Z photos from Nissan as well as the official changes to the car. Due to a media embargo, the earliest the information can be released is Sunday evening, August 14, at 9 p.m. Pacific (midnight Eastern). Tune into www.sportzmagazine.com that evening for all the details and pics.

The Fall 2005 issue of Sport Z releases Sept 1 and will include a 2006 350Z centerfold, along with the changes and photo details. Other 350Z stories include a review of a plenum spacer, a detailed 8-page drifting guide, a revolutionary brake invention (complete with brake history and theory), and more. To check out the new cover and table of contents--and to order--go to www.sportzmagazine.com or call circulation at 505-771-2374.

Dave, I've noticed that I can't yet order that one issue. When could I order the Sept. issue, not the year subscription?

The issue will be available for ordering as a back issue in late August (around the 20th). You can either order the issue at www.sportzmagazine.com or call circulation at 505-771-2374. It should arrive on newsstands in early/mid September, but they tend to sell out quickly, so I'd call first before treking out to your local Barnes & Noble.

International subscriptions are available on our website, www.sportzmagazine.com. We deliver anywhere in the world there is mail service. We are not on newsstands outside the US (and even in the US, Sport Z Magazine can be hard to find).

That is funny "news embargo" I hadn't heard that one in about three years when we were all expecting the info on the 03's, funny how time flies.

Hey, Dave... how about fueling some speculation? I know you can't give us details until the 14th, but can you tell us *how many* new colors there will be for '06? That's the main change I'm interested in.

Hmmm, good idea mcduck. Dave, could you tell us if any of this info is false?

The way I see it, every model except for the base gets the engine currently used for the 35th Anniversary.

Continuously Variable Timing (CVT) on both the Intake and Exhaust Cams
New shorter, wider intake
New Bottom End (Revised pistons, rods, etc.)
New ECU Mapping
Higher Redline stock (7000 vs. 6600)

I read somewhere that the Magnetic Black is like a pearl black, where it almost "changes colors" in the light. Maybe you have some cost increase info? Some people here are guessing that it will be a 1% increase over current cost, so roughly $300 to $500 (USD).

I know I'm pushing the envelope asking this....but like my signature says. The wait IS killing me.

I can't believe they changed all that if they did. I JUST got an '05 in March saved up $7,000 to put down on it and now they up the HP and add all this other stuff. Kinda pisses me off and I feel cheated. How much do you think I would lose on a trade in of an '05 Enthusiast with 8k miles for an '06 enthusiast? If I could get the same payments...it might be worth it.

Are you happy with your Z? If so, don't worry about it. If you wait to make a purchase based on what nicer things may be offered in the next model year, you'll never buy a new car again.

I can't wait to see the pics of the new colors. The black sounds awesome and I'm curious to see what Interlagos Fire is (if indeed that is one of the new colors!)

I am happy to a point. I heard that the engine was smoother and the shifts were easier. The one I have now I dread shifting from 1st to 2nd expecially when I am going to redline. It feels like it doesn't want to move(shifter). And Like 50% of the time when I am driving "spiritedly" I will go to shift from 1st to 2nd(it is such a hard shift) and then pulling back it will stick half way in the gate. It sticks hard enough for me to lose grip on it when pulling back. And since I am driving quick I have already released the clutch and pressed the gas and this causes it to grind and pop out of gear and of course the rpms jump up. I am afraid to drive it quick. It happened racing a Cobolt SS. Of course he didn't believe me. When the engine is at high revs it runs nice but the engine feels like it REALLY doesn't want to be up there, it seems rough and the shifting in 1st to 2nd just feels so rough. Like you have to yank it out of 1st. Other than that I absolutely LOVE the car.

I don't like the way the new headlights look, I like what they are and what they do though. The led lights I would have to see. I like the strip in the headlight better now than the leds in the new ones. I have aftermarket wheels, I hate the new front bumper and I don't like the interior changes except for the door. Those I can all change. It is the engine and tranny I want. Not for power but for fun and smooth driving.

Oh, and if it is true about the no antenna...I would love to have mine in the window. My eclipse did and I like it with nothing sticking out of the side of my car...but that I can deal with.

I hear ya man. I just got my roadster in April and now I'm considering trading it in for an 06. What Sport Z Mag says about the changes will make the decision for me. As far as trading in, prepared to get hosed. I was offered 30k for my 05 roadster from the dealer and it only has 2k miles on it. What's funny is that they had an 04 roadster on the lot for 34k...LOL.

Be carefull what you wish for, stealers....I mean dealers live off of people who only shop on "payments". Sure, you can always get the same payments....if they extend your payments out more months.

Besides, you've enjoyed your Z for the past couple of months. I've been sitting here in the best damn summer this area has seen in many years and am driving my wife's Ford Escort waiting for my Z to arrive in december. By that time I'll have to put it in the garage because of the snow.

So, I feel you pain...but be honest. From March to this day you have been a VERY happy man because of your Z.

EDIT: Besides, you could always wait for the 2009 when they do a complete makeover. Or maybe 2020 when it comes with the flux capacitor. Don't worry, technology is like that. It will always evolve and something better, faster and cheaper will always be coming "soon".
