Default Hmmm, help?

"Why do you want a fast car if you're not going to drive it fast"... the question I always receive from my folks... and as it's coming down to the last few months when I get my car, I need some stuff to say.

Any ideas?

be staaight up with them, you plan on doing 75 in 30mph zones, weaving heavily though traffic and burning rubber at stoplights.

or tell them its because of the style, looks, sound, and love of the car and maybe its heritage. but can you live with that 'lie'?

Tell them the truth. You want it to help you get laid.

Your dad will understand.

Top 10 responses to "Why do you want a fast car if you're not going to drive it fast"...

10. Burlap sacks will cover your body, why do you buy such nice clothes?
9. Because it's too hard to get pulled over in a slow car.
8. It doesn't go fast, it just LOOKS like it goes fast.
7. Because I have a big pecker that I don't get to use, so I wanted a matching set.
6. Define fast....
5. Because I hate bugs....I can kill more this way.
4. Because slow and crappy is "in" right now, and I'm trying to be my own person.
3. I fully intend to drive it fast, I'm just not going to tell you about it.
2. I don't want a fast car because it's fast, I want it because I can drive under toll-gates with it.

And the number one answer to such a dumb question....

1. It's not about going over the speed limit, it's about getting there as FAST as you can!

Why do you have to justify this to your parents?? Are THEY buying the car for you??

If you're buying it YOURSELF, it shouldn't matter what they think. Hell, my parents aren't into sportcars and wonder why I buy them.

But then, they're in their late 60's.....They like big cars they feel safe in. We respect each other's opinions on what we like to drive.

Wow...that's a tough question. My parents are actually responsible for my sports car addiction - they bought me my first Z before I even had my license.

Safety- a fast car helps you merge on the freeway and avoid trouble.

not old enough for your parents to be buying you a sports car if you have to justify the reason for purchasing them....

Second that. Driving on a highway in my pickup I always felt somewhat I had to make allowances for the vehicle .. and everyone else on the road. You always have to be aware of what is happening around you on the highway .. that doesn't change . .but your ability to react and adjust to the traffic is greatly increased in the Z .. therefore .. making it *potentially* a safer vehicle.

Exactly. It handles better, it accelerates better, it stops better and I would say that it's built to be safer because it's made to go faster.
