I think some of you guys are CRAZY!!!!
What are you guys expecting....Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette type numbers? The car starts out at $27,000 !!!!!!
I just priced out a freaking Jetta at $28,500!!!!!!!!
Even if the car had 280 hp, a 5.5 0-60, and a 14.0 that would be sick for $27,000 !!!!
Come on, let's be reasonable here......

the performance numbers will be almost exactly the same....
ok I just priced out a Passat at $38,000!!!!! Nothing against Passat's, they are fine cars but even at $34,000 the Z is a pretty awesome deal!

Why did people expect such big numbers? What offical source ever said 300hp? I dont get it. If I posted last week saying that I heard that it may have 380hp, would people have been upset today if they said it only had 325hp? Bottom line is the car exceeds every stat given in all Nissan Official literature. Those are the numbers that you should have gone by when ordering the car. Not some uninformed guy who most likely wears a jolly jumper and hockey helmet just in case he falls off the playground. I have no clue where that came from.
I think some people have gotten a tad greedy
I can understand where people want to get as much out of the car as possible but you are right, even these conservative first stats from C&D exceed anything Nissan has stated....
I think everyone needs to chill out...wait until you get the car and look at your car payment and then ask the rich snob in his porsche what his payment is

I totally agree . . . although the guy down the hall with the 55K Boxster S is not very excited. His car is more exclusive car for sure. My Enthusiast Z will have better overall performance than most anything else for $30K.
If your upset your $35K Z is not good enought you should of bought the base or entusiast model instead. This car does EXACTLY what Nissan said it would for the money. Does the truth hurt, did you think when they were saying sub 6 sec 0-60 they really meant 4.9, come on. Did you research the car before you put a deposit down. I did and they told me 280hp and 0-60 less then six seconds. That is what they promised and that is what they delivered. I don't get what all the whining is about, if your not happy with the numbers get your deposit back and shell out and extra $20K for a vette or a porsche.

Regarding people that are upset about spending $35k on the 350Z for these performance numbers. You knew that the base Z would have the same engine and HP. You had justification for spending more money on options. If the base model is a good deal for $27k and these performance numbers then, to you, the higher up models are also a good deal.
The comment by the C&D tester about getting a C5 instead of spending $35k on the 350Z is just stupid (and so is he while we're at it). The $35k is for a fully loaded Track model with Nav, Brembo's, Ray's, tire pressure moniter, LSD, TCS, VDC, Xenon's, Homelink. You'd be lucky to find a 2 year old base Corvette for $35k.

I don't know what the whining is about. That was a totally positive review! If that 3320 holds up, sure its a little heavy, but it still performs wonderfully. I still dont see how it can be that heavy though, its 8 inches less wheelbase than the G, has less glass, less doors, less seats, and the specs from Japan say it weighs less than that.
1. Its $27,000-$36,000
2. It outperforms cars costing $20,00 more.
3. It isnt a C5
4.It looks great
5. The review was very positive
6. Its not the numbers that you can brag about, its about the fun you can care about.
7. A Z never was a C5
8. The stats are great in my mind
9. The Z was never about big muscle performance, In fact, Mr. K said that thats what he thinks lead to its demise, engine and cost upsizing.
10. I hate whining.

I am perfectly satisfied with the performance numbers. The performance is about the same as my 1993 RX-7TT. At that time almost 10 years ago I paid over 32,000 dollars for the car. This is a heck of a bargain for this car with everything that is offerred.
Look at the new budget sportscar from Porsche.
We're talking 550 HP, 200+MPH, V10 engine, unbelievable handling and a curb weight of less than 2800lbs all for just $35000.00.
I mean, come on Nissan, if Porsche can do it you certainly can!
Ooops!
It looks like I misplaced a decimal point, oh well!

Well, that sir is the Porsche Carrera GT due out in 2004. Edmonds has some pics and I am sure you can find some other pics floating around as well. This is one of my favorite designs from the past few years! This shot is said to be a spy shot and I love the look in black. All previous pics have been of a silver concept.

Agree! They did what they said they were going to do. I was 'in' on the car since I thought it would only be 260+. Some people are impossible to please. I completely understand that I'm getting a 27k car with 6k worth of extra stuff on it, and I'd say the 6k for the extra junk was one heck of a deal too. Has anyone priced a bmw or porsche lately? (and added options) The engine is going to be on the 10best list for 2003! They made it the best v6 when it had 240hp on an altima, now it's got 287 supposedly...... and its on a z. And about the weight... I understand that racers would be a little miffed because you'd have to go through weight reductions to change that which would make it a track only car, other things you could change and still be able to drive on the streets, but not the weight. It's not that far off what we've been saying all the time, but I think they got their hopes up that nissan would pull 3100- out of their butt for the track. All I know is my car is going to be gorgeous IMO and I'm going to have a blast driving it. I think the people complaining were the people who were over-optimistic about what the car would be in the end. But hey it aint over till the fat lady sings and we drive into the sunset in our Z's... until then things can change, who knows?
