Break light on with battery under it?
Okay, after driving for a while quite fast and powershifting in tiptronic (car is an automatic) the breaklight is on and theres a battery under it and the car is very, very hard to turn almost like theres no power steering.
Battery light on = charging system not functioning (alternator) = belt problem
Difficult Steering = power steering pump not functioning = belt problem
brake-light on = maybe low brake fluid?...
Start with belts and fluids and go from there.

First time I did this in 76,000 miles.

I have had my brake light and battery light come about 3 times total since I've owned the car. The first time it happened when I was exiting the highway, as soon as I saw it I called my Nissan service department and he basically said not to worry about it. I probably had about 10,000 miles on the car when it first happened. It's happened 2 times since then and I'm still not sure what has caused it. The last time it happened was probably 6 months ago. I have 27K miles on my car. I guess this could signify that I have a failing altenator right?
Possibly..does your volt meter ever fluctuate? Should be right around 12V with the engine off and 14V with the engine running. If your alternator were failing, you'd see the meter drop to 12V while the car was running.
Here is a thread where someone is having the same problem https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....51#post2526651
When I was slowing to a stop light (it wasn't hard braking) it lit up. Afterwards I was able to recreate this one time by hard braking.
It just comes on and goes off very quick.

I would check your brake fluid reservoir. If it's low, it's possible that the fluid shift under braking is causing the sensor in the reservoir to trip the light. The battery light you're seeing, could it be "spillover" light from the brake light, or is it clearly on itself?
It happened again this morning when I was driving to work. I was approaching a stoplight, just slowing to a stop and it lit up. It was early but I think I noticed that my tach dropped all the way to the bottom, then once the light went off the tach went back up to around 1,000 rpm. I glanced at my Volt meter but it didn't look like it moved any...
Do you have different pulleys on your car?

When my brake light came on just like yours, I just needed new pads. If yours havent been replaced yet and you're @ 27K miles...it's probably time. Also, If you can change them yourself, do it. Nissan will rip you off.
