holy crap that's heavy dude

i'd remove my stereo without even thinking about it until I realized the stock deck and front speakers only weighed in at like 7 lbs total. I think a stereo is worth 7 lbs on a daily driven car so I'm keeping it for now.

stereo gear weigh a ton - especially the JL stealth box dual sub

I've noticed that as I lighten the car up the ride is getting more and more bouncy - still on stock 03 suspension...for a couple more weeks

what's your current weight Rickdogg? Your Z is pretty much the lightest I've seen that isn't like the 350EVO or Perf Nissan Pro team's car

It is ~3000 lbs +/- now with the Roll bar and 14" brakes FR and RR. This is with cast track wheels

Next on my list:

-17" Forged track wheels
-Drill holes in front bumper reinforcement
-Change OEM mirrors to CF pieces
-Change rear side windows to lexan
-Fiberglass doors (maybe)

yeah that's really light with a 60 lb rollbar and cast wheels

you can get carbon fiber front fenders. Guys who got the sarona fiberglass fenders say those were ligher by about 5 lbs each and those were fiberglass, not carbon fiber

I have planned on doing it before, but I wasnt sure on the weight difference. I do wish that I could get someone to make a prototype full one-piece fiberglass front end for the car (bumper, fenders, and hood)

Rather than reducing weight, just add power. Heck, rather than gut your z, spend a few grand and add 135 WHP....that's what I did.

I guess the same could be said around a circuit race. I'll race you down the 1/4 mile strip and let's see how much I lose by (then again I have 17" track wheels vs your 19's) and lets count how many turns you lose by going around a 2.5 mile course with 23 turns.

I am thinking about lowering the car, put some nice big wheels on and reduce weight where ever possible. I wonder how much faster 0-60 will be like this.
if you do all that then youll have a one of those funky civics with no interior..
and biiiiig *** wing (created more drag)

A fair argument. I haven't had mine on a scale lately, but I'm sure she's one heavy pig. Makes no difference though. With the car wrapped in fiberglass body kit, it'll never see a track. The first time I left the pavement, my car would shatter!

Seriously though, the airbags have to weigh something. But more seriously, why would you want to disembowel such a beautiful car? To gain what, 1 second at the track? Is it really worth it?

Sure, take out the spare tire... only fill it 1/4 tank... that's reasonable. But losing 20 lbs at the expense of your carpets, dash, sound, and cosmetic plastics? Jesus.
The enjoyment you get at the track (not 1/4 mile) by having a lighter car greatly repays the sacrifice if you are dedicated about driving. Some people have different priorities when it comes to sportscars. And 100lbs is quite a noticeable difference already on a track

In the 1/4 mile and 0-60, I agree just add more HP

Actually, a combination of both would be good. If you could keep the car at stock weight numbers WHILE adding 135 WHP, that might be the best of both worlds as far as lap times go....not sure.

Oh yeah, no doubt about that. I just meant in his particular case since he is not going to go all out race and inquired about a 0-60 improvement

Go on a diet, get the best of both worlds. No need to take out your interior, its cheaper, and the chicks will like it. If you are a sack of bones already well..........I dont know what to say.

Radio? maybe kill all speakers ~30lbs
Spare donut ~40 lbs
Carpets 5 lbs
Install carbon fiber race seats (expensive) saving of ~20-25 lbs per if ya have the power leather less if clothe seats
Expensive forged rims ~10 lbs per rim
Carbon Fiber hood ~30-40lbs?
If ya like weight saving... buy Lotus Elise... cant afford it? buy s2000!

LOL, stock hood is light as it really gets, its made of aluminum just like the Z32 300ZX was. There is no way u can save 30-40lbs, in fact many of the aftermarket CF hoods weigh more then the stock ones, mainly cause its not DRY CF and its a WET type which has no CF values like strength and weight savings. There is more then 5lbs of carpet in this car too.

Touring 18x8" FRONT tire weighs 56lbs with stock 225 45 18 RE040 tires....quite heavy eh? Yes i weighed it on a scale over at the shop.

FRONT Nismo wheels with 245 40 18 Nitto NT555's weighs in at 42lbs

and my fat pig *** Touring 6MT Roadster weighs in at 3510lbs with no riders and a hair over 1/4 tank.
