looking to get some tints, my Z is silver if that matters. I had 20% on my last car. I was wondering how people with 5% tints like it? is it too dark? tough to see at night? will I have problems with police with 5% tint? any thoughts on this?
i had 5% on my civic before and its unbearable. you will get use to it but its just looks tacky after a while.. I also lived in LI and I got pulled over it all the time. I had to drive with my windows open most of the time. I think 35% looks the best imo.

I have 20 on rear & side rear (legal in CA) and 50% on my door glass (illegal, but I don't care).
I had 5% on one of my other Z's and it is really to dark for me. The 20% looks good to me and still provide great protection. The 50 looks almost stock depending on the angle & lighting.

I'm in Los Angeles and have the same as bixby. The 20% rear and sides This darkens the 50% door glass a bit looking into the car. The side windows are so tiny as well as being blocked by the seats, that you can't see much in anyway. That is a great combination.
I have had tint in all my cars, in CA, since the 80's I always go lighter. Cops have NEVER pulled me over for tint. Even when I have gotten stopped and cited for speeding, tint was never added to the citations.
I know several cops. They hate tint that is too dark. It makes approaching a car dangerous, in their mind, especially at night. They will cite those cars for tint.
I also think that tint that is too dark looks ghetto LOL (my opinion, off course) and as we all know opinions are like a-holes, we all have one.

I have 17% they stopped making the 20% in the brand my tint guy uses. I did all 5 windows and a 4 1/2 inch strip across the windshield. The strip makes a world of difference. I think you should go with 20% its not unbearable at night and the cops don't bother me. The 35% looks good but doesn't give nearly as much privacy.
My car was tinted 35% all around...then I peeled the door windows off and left the others on...looks pretty badass with the white color...they see the driver...but they can't see what's in the back
I just got my tint done today. 22% for the rear window. 5% for the two small side windows. 35% on the two front windows. The car looks great. By going 5% on the two small windows, the windows looks like part of the body with piller.
I would have to say 35% is a bit light. Wished I would have stuck to my guns and gone 22% for the fronts as well. Will post pics after I wash my car tommorow.
Dave, who did my tint at Solar Reflections in WA, kicked *** and did the best tint job that I have seen. Cut the lines perfectly and there was no gap at all.

I have a chrome silver z with 5% tint on every window on the car. I even have 35% tint on my windshield and the car looks awesome it is a little hard on to pull out onto dark roads but no real problems i love my tint
Silverspeedz - 5% is limo tint and you did it for all of your windows? If so, you are a daring man. Don't the cops pull you over? On dark roads at night, you won't be able to see much or anything when backing up.

i went with 20% just like on my last car and it looks good but just like on my last car and i see it on other people car, there is like a boarder around the window (not the front 2) thats like a quarter of an inch not tinted. Like around the little black dots. Its tuff to explain but does every car come out like this?
heres a pic, its dark but if u can see where the light shines, on top, theres that little non-tinted part of the window, it goes all the way around and it like a boarder between the window and tint i guess
