so the factory front side window tint is 50%? what about the rear side windows, which are obviously darker from the factory?
if you add 35% a/m tint to 50% factory tint, does it become darker than the 35% tint which is the legal limit here in cali? how do you "add" tints?

i am a tinter. here in Hawaii, it seems that everybody has to have 3% tint on their cars. (our fines are $285 per window). But on most cars, especially the z, 20% is sexy. It has a classier look. When the window is too dark, it seems as if it's not even a window; looks like a piece of plastic. Earlier someone mentioned that 35% on the z looks dark. That is true because of the dark interior most z's have. And because the z is so low, you are looking straight into the dark seats or the dark carpet. I have legal (35%) tint only because I would not want to pay a $1,425 fine ($285 X 5), but I would love to put 20% on my car.

I have 5% tint on all my windows including the visor strip on the front windshield. It's hard to see behind you when backing up. I just roll my windows down so I can use my side mirrors to see the lines on the road and the curb behind me. When backing up to another car you will have to prop. your door open and look behind you. I'll say having 5% have it's pro's and con's. Now what I like about it is I can see you and you can't see me in day or night...lol Another thing to avoid getting a ticket for your tint if your concern about that when being pulled over for like lets say speeding. Is to roll your drivers side window all the way down and crack your passenger window to have light reflect off your passenger side mirror into the car at night during the winter. It will light up the interior and the cop won't bother you on your tint, believe me. Good Luck on your choice of tint, just figured you would want to hear from someone with 5% tint on the Z. You can check out my pics to get a better idea of what 5% tint looks like on the also.

Like around the little black dots. Its tuff to explain but does every car come out like this?
heres a pic, its dark but if u can see where the light shines, on top, theres that little non-tinted part of the window, it goes all the way around and it like a boarder between the window and tint i guess

every tinted car I've ever seen has that border around the black dotted area. its normal.

5%? Why don't you just get some black spraypaint? It'll be cheaper, and easier to see through.
It's not like you can drive the car at night with 5%, it's hard enough to see out during the day.

My vote is 20% as well. I only got 5% for the small window which is basically useless anyways for visibility. It looks like part of the body now. :-)
Wish I would have gone with 20% for the driver and passenger side windows as well.
