free 350z videogame (PART II)
first, some info as this can be confusing. Racer is a free, community driven driving simulator created by ruud van gaal, who does all the programming. it is a work in constant beta, so cannot be compared to a retail product that you buy. it is worked on in spare time, for the love of it. so it is a little difficult to get the game going.
to drive the 350Z in Racer, you need to do the following...
download Racer
you should go to the beta page and upgrade all the way to v0.5.0beta4 to use the 350Z model. here is a link directly to the beta files:
>>> http://www.racer.nl/dl_beta.htm <<<
once you have that installed and running, try it out. hopefully it works. but, since this is a work in progress, it might not run for you. do not be distressed. if you need help, try the Racer Forums or simply read through the Racer site. The game has never given me problems however.
so now that Racer is installed, you can download the 350Z from my site, but here is a direct link to the download page:
Racer 350Z download
simply unzip the 350Z to the cars directory that the Racer install created. fire up Racer and go to select car, and proceed clicking previous/next till you see the Z, and select it. then go and race it.
One more thing, you should prolly get a better looking track then the one Racer comes with (Carrera). A very cool small circuit (club style) track is available here:
Carlswood
there are also more tracks posted on the forums (linked at racers site and above in this post) as well as more cars.
hopefully that will get you started.
notes on the Z...
the 0-60 time is inaccurate due to an inaccuracy in creating the tire profile. braking is also not as snappy as it should be... you are welcome to tweak the ini file (the file that controls how the car behaves) to try and get this more accurate. you can throw in more horspower, lower the car, change the COG, and more to experiment with. the car is a fun drive, but cannot be accurate due to current limitations and unkown numbers on our end. hopefully you can experiment and get it more accurate. if you do, please post your tuned ini files so that others may enjoy them.
also, the cars textures are totally editable so you can make your own paintjob. i suggest downloading the white one to swap new colors. simply copy and rename the entire directory and it will show up as a different car in the menu.
thanks for reading and i hope you enjoy it. i will try to solve any problems you might have, but im no expert on this game. just a fan.

yeah it is a serious drift car. if you want, you can tune the car.ini file to be less "drifty" but i would reccommend making a back up before messing to hard with it. it is kinda fun to mess with it though. there are some people on the Racer forums messing with the brakes and what not to have it less arcadey. there is an ini tweaking tutorial if you use the search feature of the forum, done by a guy named Igor I believe. but it is a video game in the end.
