yeah...I've had similar experiences at luxury car dealerships. like any commission based salesperson, they're going to try to profile you just based on looking at you and decide whether or not they think you're worth the time and effort to talk to. unfortunately thats just part of the business, and you'll see it a lot at busy, higher-end brand dealerships.

Dude how can you generalize all Infiniti dealers with your experience. I recently purchased from Infiniti and it was THE BEST car buying experience. Plus the girl was hot. No pressure just went with the flow.

I kept thinking about this...are we getting the whole story? Because the only way I would ignore someone coming into my establishment would be if you were being an a-hole from the begining. Not jumping to conclusions here just wondering. You said you visted 4 dealerships? I find that waaaay hard to believe that you were ignored at all four.

Maybe you weren't approved for an Infiniti so now you're ranting...

Yep, I went to the only Inifinity here in town, and the dealer would not let me test drive a G35C, we just sat in the car and started it up!

I went the same day and bought my Roadster. Guess what, the female salesman let me drive the Roadster right out of the showroom floor!

happened to me one at Champion Nissan in Katy, TX. I walked in, dressed casual but nice. I am looking to buy a Z THAT DAY and I am looking around the showroom. I am looking at the salesmen as they walk around and no one is talking to me. after about *gasp* 10 min I walk to the front desk and ask the lady if there is a salesmen i can talk to.

I sh|t you not, this lady has to say "customer needs sales-rep to the front desk please" THREE FOOKING TIMES before someones walks over....and i dont even get a real salesman. I get some chick who's like a glorified assistant to answer somes questions.

I tell her, "Hi ma'am, i am looking to buy a new 350Z today if you guys can beat Tom Peacock's price of $XXXXX." She doesnt even TRY! She looks at me and says, "im sorry we cant make that price". she didnt even take my offer to the bosses....NADA! so i told her thanks Ill get my Z from the other place. and walked out.

worst ever.

so that night I drove off the Tom Peacock lot with a Redline 05 Z. Never looked back!

Im going through some if this as well, however I completely understand it. I dont condone it, it bothers me but, its the ways its been done for years.

Im 21 years old but have worked hard the last six years to get the promotion I deserved. That promotion came last week and now Im buying my Z. I go to the dealers, dressed in street clothes. Im not dressing up for anyone.

"Are you parents coming in to co-sign"
"Will you be on your parents insurance policy"
"whos your daddy"

Well not the last one, but you get the point. I really dont like being stereo typed, but what was your impression of me by the end of line 3 of this post?

Well...most luxury vehicle dealerships have an "up" system....which means, each salesman have to wait their turn for customers....most of them have a policy where their salemen cannot approach the customer on the lot unless the customer request for assistance...I know Infiniti is like that, the customer has to request for assistance, otherwise, salesmen cannot solicit them...luxury dealerships try to take the bad image out of the car buying experience where salesmen just flock your car when you get there...your typical car dealerships will have hundreds of car salesmen outside smoking and drinking coffee and when a customer pulls up, everyone stares at the customer, and most people get intimidated by that...so luxury manufacturers do not allow that...hence the difference between Nissan and Inifiniti....but, it does suck though when you get a salesman and he ****ing BS' u thru the way just to get rid of you...u sure you went to FOUR infiniti dealerships and they all did that to you?

I rarely had to speak to a salesperson when I bought my 05 Base. I did all my price searching online. I did a search on a few sites and I got emails from all my local dealerships with their prices. And guess what, they beat all salesman prices by a huge margin even when they were from the same dealsership. You see the goal of a car salesman is to make commission, a "big" commission. And internet managers are geared to sell more in quanity by selling for cheaper. For those who are looking to buy one I highly recommend taking this route.

sounds like a broken record at this point but i have been through the same
experience with mercedes. i also notice that many dealers will pre-scan you
before you even leave your car in the lot based on what kind of car you pull up
in. so if you pull up in a mercedes dealership in a bmw, they figure you have the
$$ to purchase a mercedes and are jumping ship from bmw to mercedes. pull up
in an accord and they figure you are creating a wish list.

on a side note though, a plus to ferrari of washington out here northern virginia.
a few years back they opened a new dealership not too far from our house. one
day the wife and i stop by to take a look at the vehicles and they were far more
nice than i expected. might also be that we pulled up in an x5 though.

i've only had good experiences at each (nissan and infiniti, not to say the OP didnt have a bad experiences).

the customer service at infiniti was awesome, but i dont think the salesman was super knowledgable about the mechanics of the car, but he new every luxury option!

the moment you get a bad vibe from a dealer, infiniti, nissan, or the third, leave, it rarely gets better.

This is exactly why I did almost everything over e-mail when I bought my Z. Made the initial contact on the dealership website through the internet sales manager, went in for a test drive at their invitation after they realized I wasn't screwing around, and did all the subsequent haggling through e-mail. Overall, the only actual human contact was the test drive, the signing of the papers, and the pickup.

When it comes to situations like these, e-mail is the great equalizer. Salesmen can't profile what they can't see.
