Default new tranny

just got my z back with the new tranny after the old one went. then thing is nice. the clutch has a nice bite to it in the pedal stroke, and the shifting is clean. all in all i would try to break ur original transmission on an 04 z, cause the one they replace it with is just phenominal.... at first, ive driven it about 100 miles so far... hopefully it doesnt go like the other did

I have a 2005 w/ just JWT...and yeah 1st gera is DAMN loud when its gettin up there. Sounds kinda electric motor ish ...loud.. 2nd gear is like that only when its coasting to a stop. Other gears are too big to hear any of that. After driving for about a 1000 miles on ur new transmission you'll notice everything gets softer and better IMO. My 2nd gear used to be weary weary notchy but now its like butter.

ive got a 03 but a 05 tranny version 008

i probably have under 3K miles on the new one

when you get up to about 5500K RPMS its whining loud right?
ok from there if you push the clutch in at that RPM do you hear a seperate whine sound like something unwhinding or kinda of like from high to low pitch vs the low to high when your accelerating?

wonder if its the way the gear is cut? it couldnt be the stock flywheel could it?

any help on this is greatly appreciated

also if your just cruising slowly in a parking lot in 1st with your window rolled down is it loud then too especialy up against a wall?

mine is
Actually if i pull the clutch out at 5500 in 1st gear i hear a loud thud like its suddenly releasing the clutch and it does continue to whine but not as loud. It doesn't get quieter. My friends MKII supra w/ MKIII tranny sounds the same cept its a little quieter so i wasn't too worried. I got used to it and i don't use 1st gear in parking lots anymore lol. I personally think the whining is b/c its so short and the Z just isn't as sound proof as some other cars. I don't mind.

How many miles was on your 04 before the tranny gave out?? I have had a number of stick autos and this auto was the hardest one to learn shifting - it was VERY tight for the first 3000 miles! Have 19,000 on it now and shifts very easy. I even down shift when slowing down to save brakes. When I first got the car I was afraid I was going to ruin the clutch real quick - felt very uneasy with it.

10K miles when the tranny went... also a lt of racing. I dont powershift, but a handful of drags will beat a tranny more then alot of daily driving

Great advice and people wonder why there are so many transmission replacements.
