+1 Paying 4% on the car for the next 4 years, but making 15% on my investments.... hmmm

I've had mine for about 3 weeks now, so I haven't yet to make a payment. And I'm not until the very day before the first payment is due.

I saved all my change for like 20 years. Walked in, paid cash and drove home!

I enjoy reading that people paid cash, personally I have good enough credit that it would be the dumbest thing i can do to pay cash. Hmmm 30k earning 16% a year or borrow the money at 2%, tough choice (I am leaning towards earning an extra 4k a year). Plus car loans are simple intrest so you can even pay it off early. Maybe these 22 year olds should take some finance classes and learn to save money so they can retire early and enjoy having money. But that is just my two cents.

Yon - You crack me up. I had a 1984 300zx Turbo for the last twenty years. I saved up like you :

I saved up for a new car since I bought the 300ZXT. Like $100 a month is a car maintenance and repair fund. I rarely used it on the 300zx unlike the Domestics that I have owned. So, over time it grew. I am glad I got 200K out of of the 300zxt but, I knew I would need a new car someday. So, when the 350Z came out I broke the piggy bank. I just had to have this car. The 300ZX got sold to a guy the reminds me of you in IL. He drove across country to pick up the car and has nothing but good things to say about that good old Z. However, I am glad I bought the new one. It is better in so many ways.

BTW- When are you going to upgrade your rims? j/k

Art,
I'll probably wait until I need new tires. I like either the Nismo silver or the Volks. Need to save more quarters!

With some simple educated investments it would have been much smarter to invest. You just put $26k into something bound to depreciate. When you could have been making back the APR and then some.

But congratulations on the part where you needn't worry about payments. Oh speaking of which your credit score would have loved to see at least 2 years of 500/mo payments. Oh well.

whats everyone paying in interest? Thru Nissan mine is like 1.9%, which is pretty damn good for a Z. Only 52 more payments for me.... ahhhhh, thats so depressing thinking of that.

got my car in february of 05. paid it off in full cash. the dealership was giving me a hard time paying in cash.
it was funny too because im 22 and no dealership would take me seriously. every dealership i went to asked what was in the duffel bag. and my response was give me a good deal and youll find out

NOTE: all the money i have is legit money that i work hard for. and i got a 6 MT PPW enthusiast
