Any of you use a cheapo yet good enough car cover? What kind, and where did you get it? Oh how much was it? Is it easy to put on with one person? I had bought a nissan 350z car cover a while back but it was a hassle to put on. Being a tight fit is nice but hard for a one person job.

 

Hard to put on the OEM cover? I love the cover that nissan sells. I can get it on in like 2-5 mins depending if its night or day out.

I have the Stillen 350Z cover. Got it from Performance Nissan. Was approximately $95 shipped when I bought it over a year ago. It fits good, but not as snugg as the Nissan cover. Also you have to cut a hole in it for the antenna. Easy to put on. Takes me about one minute to put it on by myself. Cover is also somewhat padded. It even fits with my Nismo spoiler on the car.

 

Nah sorry, I had taken it back for a refund. Perhaps it was just me but the elastic ends made it difficult to get started around the car. Once I had it started the rest was easy enough... perhaps I didn't give myself enough time to perfect the technique. Well I just asked the question since it appears a Hurricane is coming to Houston and unfortionately i just had my car washed today so blah.

 

I love my OEM cover. I work at an airport and we have a maintenance hangar by the lot. The paint booth is right next to our parking lot. I had overspray all over the car one day and about went apesh!t on our maintenance director. The company ended up paying to remove the overspray, but needless to say, I don't leave it uncovered anymore. It also keeps off all of the exhaust crap from all of the aircraft. It takes me all of 2 mins to put it on.

 

i have a car cover from wal-mart. it was only $20 because i chose the most basic one.

this car cover really sucks. it didn't protect against rain. it does protect from morning dew, somewhat. some still seem to get through though, but hardly any.

i bought it because i hate having to wipe the car/windows down in the morning do to the dew. i leave the car outside. i beleive wal-mart have other ones too that are $40 and $60. i know the $60 one will protect against almost everything, including UV rays. the cover doens't fit the car snug, it just covers the whole car and some parts of the cover hang off onto the ground, but thats okay.

I like the Wolfe Car Covers. They are $45 at Costco. They are thick enough to protect and soft enough not to scratch. I added a Z logo to mine. I use it all the time:

You know the last time the car wasn't covered in the garage I hit the damn car with a torque wrench. It cost me $600 to repaint the panel. **** !!!

So, I just don't trust myself anymore ....

 

Covercraft are great, they have custom fit ones as well as universal in a pile of different materials depending on where you keep your car. I've been looking around for a while deciding what to get.

And just because i had it memorized from talking to all kinds of shops, for the Z Couple, the part number is C16362xx

the xx is the type of material, such as TS for an indoor dust cover, HG for an outdoor etc...

 

how is the oem one with rain??

 

The OEM cover is cut to fit the 350Z specifically... There is a "sock" for the rear antenna and "Mittens" for the mirrors... If they arent lined up it will be hard to put on ...

The stillen cover material absorbs water so can get damp... I hear it is pretty large and easy to put on since it basicly slips over... I also hear most people cut a small hole for the antenna or remove their antenna when putting it on... but i dont have as much experience with it either...

the OEM one works great. once you figure out how best to store it and get it right sight up the first time. then you just toss over the doors, find the side mirror holes, and drag it

 

As I said above I have the Stillen cover. It is larger than the OEM cover which allows it to fit over my Nismo front spoiler. It still fits fairly snugg. It also has mittens for the mirrors. You do have to cut out a place for the antenna or take it off. It is also soft. I use mine on the car in my garage so I am not concerned about it getting wet.

 

I have the same OEM car cover pictured above. It fits the Z perfect.

If anyone is looking for one, I'm planning to sell mine. Used only twice in my '****' period when I first bought the Z and waxed it three times a week =) I now drive my Z daily, and park indoors, so I have no use for it. PM me for offers if you're interested.

 

Hows one for the snow? I have one I used for my previous Z and will prolly use that, but any suggestions are welcome.
