Wow, I leave the board for a bit and people get snakey.
Let me make a few things perfectly clear because for whatever reason, some people just don't seem to get it.
This is a forum dedicated to the 350Z. Not dedicated to assclowns that don't get their way so they go crying to anyone that will listen. I gave my word that this site and forum would not break the rules that Nissan gave and I am going to do be best to keep my word.
If someone, ANYONE doesn't like that, <b> LEAVE</b> and stop your whining. I could give a rat's *** if you like the way I run this site. I don't care if you feel your "rights" have been violated. I own/run this site and as such, it is my "right" to do whatever the hell i want. UNDERSTAND???
I am so sick of people bitching and whining because of this, because of that. Once second people are sounding the horns about how great the site is and how we don't allow idiots to go off in here, the next second these same people are complaining because we actually step in? Where do I draw the line? Who's right and who's wrong? That's a great question so we'll make it clear, from this moment fourth there are but four rules.
1) No starting/picking fights. (should be common sense)
2) No racial or sexual discrimination of any kind will be tolerated. You will be banned for breaking this rule.
3) Do not break Nissan's embargo for July 3rd.
4) If you don't like a post or you find it offensive because of an attached image or what someone said, email THAT PERSON or PM THEM and plead your case. They have the power to edit their own post.
I guess after all is said and done, if you don't like the way the site is being run, leave. I have been very open about everything and what was going on. I have only edited the people breaking the Nissan rule or if something was offensive and I recieved PM's regarding a post.

I honestly don't even see why Jay should be tied to this emargo anyway. He is not part of the press nor writing journalistic articles about the 350Z. He is simply running a enthusiast website forum where anyone can speak their mind. If you visit the forums on the ACLU you wouldn't believe some of the things people say yet nothing gets moderated. Unless Nissan is going to start paying Jay serious advertising money or bribing him with secret information just so they can keep a tight hold on his site, I don't see what Jay owes them. Nissan is not going to sue you for what other people post. Freshalloy has a long standing relationship with Nissan (ie. received early specs and pics of the Altima with permission to post before anyone else online) and even Noel over there has not removed info just because its leaked or part of an embargo which is really something arranged between Nissan and the car magazines. I have been checking these Z sites daily looking for leaks, spy pics and pre-released info. Once that ends it won't be nearly as exciting except for people discussing mods and problems they run into. If we just wanted to know official stuff from NNA we could have just checked nissannews.com each day instead of discussing leaks/rumors here. If these boards get moderated too much I think most people will go elsewhere when exciting releases happen in the future but I hope it doesn't come to that.

Really the issue should be whether posting the C&D article in full violates copyright laws, and if Jay said that he didn't want the C&D article (or any article in full on his site, now or in the future) because of copyright issues, that's easy to understand and should be the real reason he is deleting those posts.

Been following this site and the other ( u know
which one) since january, this one seemed to be more
adult so i favored it, but lately with all the censorship
going on i dont know which is worst. I thought this
site was about sharing info and having some fun while
waiting for our cars, somewhere along the line that seems
to have gotten lost. Hope this site can get back to sharing
info and having some fun, with respect for all opinions.

Jay, I had posted a couple weeks ago that I was afraid you had gone over to the dark side because of your refusal to release info that you had learned from sources other than Nissan. I thought you raised some excellant points in your response regarding why you believed that you could not posts things that you had learned elsewhere. I do believe, however, that you have now gone WAY too far by appointing yourself as NISSAN'S OFFICIAL CENSOR. (I hope at least Nissan is paying you for that job.) I think you subvert the very purpose of the internet when you set your self up as judge and jury as far as what info people can share here that they have learned on their own. The internet is supposed to be about the free exchange of ideas, not a tool for corporations to stifle the free flow of information.

On the copyright/trademark side of it I completely understand. The guy who saved the C&D pages and has them linked online is absolutely breaking the law. Providing a link to that site is probably not against the law however since technically Jay is not hosting the content in question.
Perhaps I missed an earlier discussion about this but what does I was told point blank by Nissan that those that respect the Embargo get the perks mean? What perks are they offering you? Are they giving you something personal in exchange for controlling the information on your site or are you saying you will receive early information about future cars? If its a promise for future information won't we be back in this same situation where you can't tell us anything? That does not seem to help the site or the enthusiasts as much as sharing leaked information.

I can live with waiting the extra few days for the quiet period to end, knowing that our club will have a good working relationship with Nissan. Do you think the Southern California Z Car club that met at Fuddruckers earlier this month has a good relationship with Nissan? Wouldn't it be nice for our club to have some pull?

1. You gave your word to Nissan that you would censor this site and take down things that other people had learned on their own because Nissan wants to suppress that info. Why would you do that?

Ok. I've been with this site for a long time but I haven't really posted much since I've joined. This is a great site and all of you should be thankful that jmanz is doing this for you guys. He doesn't get paid for doing this. I know people send in there donations but he doesn't make you pay the money. Now jmanz gave his word to Nissan. Being a man of my word too, I know why he's holding back this information and it really does take a MAN to do this. For all of you who don't like what he's doing, like jmanz said, just leave. But I can guarantee you that this will be the first site/forum to release all the information that everyone has been dying for. I can also guarantee that all you people that leave my350z.com WILL come back when everything is released July 3rd. Sure it'll be on those other forums (zcar, fresh alloy). But where do you think that they get their info from? If you have ever been to those sites you will constantly find posts that they have credited to my350z.com or they will even link you to the site. Yeah exactly. It all comes back to this site. So everyone just stop acting immature, calm down and be patient. It's not like it's the end of the world. Oh yeah and it seems like that the young ones are the most mature members of this forum. VQracer I gotta give you credit for that. Oh yeah and by the way....I'm only 17.

If Jay got a press pack and had to sign something saying he wouldn't disclose it I think that was inappropriate. If Jay was looking out for himself to get whatever info he could to satisfy his desires then thats one thing. If this site's purpose is to support the 350Z enthusiast base to help us help eachother by sharing the latest information then I don't think Jay should have accepted the press pack if he had to sign that. The magazines put alot of time into getting an article together and I can understand why they would need info early so they can have it ready in time. To make sure no one jumps the gun I can see why Nissan would say that they can have the info but must wait until July 3rd. To me (unless Jay is planning to write an article that he had to prepare for) it seems like Nissan bribed Jay with early information in exchange for helping Nissan to limit the spread of leaked info. I am not saying if I was in Jay's shoes I wouldn't do the same thing to get my hands on the dirt, but Nissan knew what they were doing here and I think it was out of line for them to do it. In the present situation I can see why Jay wouldn't want to violate it, but if roles were reversed I would have done whatever it takes not to be under Nissan's influence.

I'm new here but I can't help but point out that the most aggressive and seemlingly "immature" post on here is from the so called "owner" of this site (but i dont see how he can be an owner if he himself states that the site is now funded by the donations)
I was told this is a great place to get new 350Z information but it seems like the moderators of this site are inhibiting the exchange of ideas.

These are not words of a stable "moderator." The phrase moderator revolves around the word moderation and surely that is something that the operator of this site is moving away from.
I applaud those users on this site who are willing to stand up to the establishment and voice your concern that this site is moving in the wrong direction. Without people who are willing to voice their objections free speech would be trampled by the elitist few who apparently get special perks for rubbing elbows with the fat cats.
While this site was lucky to capitalize on the popularity of the 350Z, it will not survive long in its current state. The only reason its successful is because no good alternative is around which allows for a clean chat and also for a free exchange of ideas.
Dont worry guys someone will fill this empty void sooner or later.

I for one am grateful for this site, this is where i get most of my news from. I'm glad you spent the time & money to put it up.
As with any rights we may or may not have, those rights come with responsibilities and a respect for the rules that Jmanz has instituted as owner of this site.

Robbyn, you are a lawyer and as such I should expect you putting words in my mouth. 
I never called you a liar and I am not saying people that don't agree with me are liars. Not even close.
I am just pointing out that it's funny that the people creating the biggest whine-fest over the July 3rd thing, seem to be new users. Members of this site, or the very few this applies to I should say, complain because I am doing what was asked of me. They cry censorship and they cry foul.
I explain why I am doing this, and what it's all about and even though they can read things on other cars like zcar.com, the complain because they can't read those things here.
It seems regardless of the road I choose, I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't huh?
Well, I am sticking to my guns here people, I gave my word and I will not break it. Agree, disagree, agree to disagree, whatever works best for you. I am fine with people posting their opinion, but when we get new users like Serenidad coming in and basically whining from day one, well.... something's not right. I <b> KNOW </b> I am not alone in feeling this way.
Enough for now, I am sure I've got others I have to reply to.

Enigmatic, you're right to some degree. I was angry when I posted that reply. I stand by every word though and anyone that has been here for awhile knows that I am a good guy and I don't dictate. There is a Charter Forum that is open to Charter members where we vote on things all the time.
I am tired though, of the new users that feel they speak for everyone. This is the simplest of matters, yet it had become this huge debate on free speech.
The site is funded by donations and my own money. I devote a ton of hours to the site for which I am not paid, and as such, yes, it is my site and I will do everything in my power to not allow it to become like other forums have become.
If you or anyone else doesn't like this, please leave.
