Default Motul 300W

Hey guys whats up. I just got my oil change done and I was asking the service director which oil I should use since I have alot of aftermarket parts. He recommended the Motul M800, but then one of the nismo guys came and said that they were out of that. Then he said we have the 300W which is more expensive but its the same oil that the GT500 350Z uses in Super GT. I was like . Then I said ok give me that and let me tell you... the car just flies with it. I swear it feels like i gained an extra 10-15hp easily. I was very impressed.

He probably dropped some Generic 0W-30 in there. Seriously though, the power of suggestion cannot be underestimated. My wife tells me the same thing every time I perform maintenance on her car, and she's serious. It got to where I just tell her I did something but just skip an interval. And she still tells me how much better it runs! There is no way you can tell any difference whether he put in Texaco, Mobil 1, or Motul. Don't be a dork.

I have around 7150 miles.... I'm not kidding. I was there in the back as I watch him drain the oil and fill it with the 300W. Same with the oil filter. Well I don't know if it actually added hp but it sure feels like it did.

Motul is an excellent oil. I was using the 300 oil for a while until prices made it less and less worth it. As a premium harder-to-find synthetic oil it was close to $8/qt last time I checked. I just went to Mobil 1.

Before I switched to Motul, I was using Castrol Syntec. It was ok when my car was stock but then I moved up to the M800. This is the 1st time I used the 300W and I think I will keep using this one from now on. Yeah it's a bit pricey but hey it makes the car feel much faster.

Yeah I got my car serviced at performance too. But everytime they do something, I tell them let me come in the back and watch my car as they work on it.

MOTUL 300V: Will not burn up / cake up... You will know it does good when you over heat...

The other oil is:

MOTUL 8100: Which is a small step above Mobil 1...

I run 8100 when I know im just daily driving, When going to the track always 300V

lol! i'm with nismo 350 though, if i spent that much extra on oil, i'd tell myself i was driving gt car too... and i'd believe it. i had my oil changed thursday at the dealership with mobil 1 synt., its a beast now.

the power of suggestion = the power of "how much does that **** cost??!!?? it must be good!"

Forgive me for not haveing the issue or mags name but somewhere I just saw where a drag motor made an extra 50hp by using different oil. I will look through my room to find it but I know I saw it. It's not like you really gained power you just got back what you were being robbed. Friction robs power better oil less friction more power seems like a sound idea to me.
I'm not trying to get down on anyone but Nismo's claim of more power might not be just in his head. But then again who knows the butt dyno doesn't measure intake temp, humidity if the AC is on or not etc.

Btw Im still pissed that my nissan dealer told me that I would ruin my motor using synthic oil. These guys really don't know anything do they.

Super street august05 page 116. It was 40hp from a 1000hp b18 drag car. I highly doubt that translates to much on a regular or slighly moded vq35 but maybe 2-3hp who knows if the avarage est for dollar vs hp that I see a few people quote is $100 per 1hp then $50 oil change isn't bad

Dude I know by changing oils won't see as high as 15hp I was over exaggerating it. But this is the 1st time i used a full race oil on my car and by my guess it freed up 5hp. And the other poster was right, changing oils do give you some hp. I also read the Super Strret issue. And yeah I maybe a newbie. I just joined this month but I had my Z over a year now. And going from a 96 celica gt(170hp) to a 04 Z(9287hp) and with your first time using a ful race oil, I bet you would feel the same.
