i do agree that you would have to ease off the gas when diengaging the clutch. But i feel that the RPm drop might be due to the 34lb flywheel that the Z's are equipped with. I geuss the the drop in RPM can be corrected with quicker more coordinated shifts.

rpm will not drop the way you are concerned until you get on the clutch. if you cruise in gear and then take your foot off the gas pedal because you see a pedestrian up ahead running across the street (unless you're the type to speed up) your rpms don't drop. Like I said, pull off the throttle and wait before pushing the clutch. You will see that the rpms do not jump.
Yeah, you got it.

i know about the rpm not dropping until I clutch...i like said earlier, I think it's due to my pedaling and shifting to fast that the rpm jumps...

Because I had this problem too, I drive with my left foot resting on the kick plate, and both my hands at 10 and 2. Then when it comes time to shift, even though I try to move fast, as I take my right hand off the steering wheel my right foot comes off the throttle. As my fingers wrap the shift ****, I pick my left foot up from the kick plate and press the clutch, then shift. No jump in rpm. No kick in the pants and look like a rookie. Plus it feels more like driving on the track. How I long to go back to the Streets of Willow.... sigh...

Yes, mine does it and I have driven manual cars and motorcycles all my life, none of them did.

I posted this when I first got my Z as that the effect of this is that it feels like it blips the throttle when I press the clutch to change the gear.

This happens to alot of people, just depending how significantly. Usually when you shift, you'll see the rpm bouncing up and down in between a few hundred rpms. It is normal. I had talked to a 350z tech regarding this situation the day i bought the car, thinking it was abnormal. He had explained to me because it was due to electronic sensors and not like other cars where they were not sent electronically, the rpm tends to be a little slow catching up.
