You would be surprised to see how acurate that computer really is.

So far I'm averaging about 24 mpg, which is better then my wifes '08 Volvo C30 (at 22, all city) but not as good as our (considerable slower) '00 VW Passat turbo which got 28 on the same commute. Still beats the crap out of my '02 Dodge Dakota V8 (3.92 rear end) which only gets 13 mpg while towing, but it doesn't require premium either.

My commute is 30% city / 70% hwy. Average speed is between 30 and 40 mph, while on the highway part I'm doing 70-80 mph if its accident free. I general upshift around 3k RPMs, but will punch thru 5k when merging onto the highway. I do shift into 6th even in the city at only 45 mph when cruising. Thankfully I drive to work during off hours so I don't encounter much traffic. Also I don't run the A/C very much because I drive at night when its cooler.

I've checked the MPG both via the computer and calculated by hand (using the miles divided by gallons pumped method) both are always within 1 or 2 mpg of each other. However I have noticed the pump cut off varies widely... I've had it stop fueling at 14 gallons but once managed to stuff 17 into her. I seem to get about 100 miles per 1/4 tank, thus if I run it all the way down range is around 400 miles. Given my commute that yields around 10-11 hours of driving. At point there is still about 3 gallons left in the tank I guess. For awhile I though the low fuel light was broken because the needle was on E yet the DTE said 90 miles, however I didn't trust it. Turns out it was right, so now I drive till the light comes on and DTE says about 50 miles to go and starts blinking.

There are probably another 20 threads on the same subject since, too.

Setting aside the fact that this thread is older then Lady Gaga's Fame, I average 18.7 mpg (both city and highway). Probably need to cool the throttle a bit..

Never seen mine go below 21mpg, but I sit around 23.3mpg (confirmed at fill up) day to day driving. I drive around town a lot, but work is a 15mile straight road for me at about 75mph. Max I've seen was 27 when I reset it going about 80mph back from Orlando last week. It quickly dipped way lower when I put my foot in it.

Following the first full to near-empty run on my Z, I calculated 22.52 MPG (70:30, city:highway). Couldn't be happier with the purchase of this vehicle!
