Question Modifications with factory Warranty

SInce I am a new owner and after doing a search, I have not found a thread that said what modifications I can do to my car with out Voiding my warranty. My first project will be new rims. Any help would be appreciated on what people have done and experiences as far as suspesion, Enginge, Exhaust. etc. etc. etc.

Thanks A happy 350z owner for 3 days now

Congrats and welcome! There are many mods that per se, will not void your warranty. Things like suspension, wheels, intake, exhaust etc. But keep in mind that the quality of the mods and how they work out in the long run will of course have an impact on warranty. I mean, if your CAI comes loose and the engine ingests something that grenades it, of course it will be considered your fault. Same goes for practically any other mod you can think of. An aftermarket stereo whose wiring was not insulated properly and causes a short circuit...etc.etc. So the moral is: Stay away from internal engine mods and you will be fine for the most part as long as your aftermarket components work how they are supposed to.

As for wheels, keep the rear wheels/tires to OEM diameter in order to keep the VDC gnomes from getting miffed. If your Z is equipped with VDC, that is.

Finally, if the dealer ever tells you that one of your mods has voided your warranty, ask him to give you that statement on paper. THEY ARE REQUIRED TO DO SO.

Good luck!

No modification will void the entire warranty. If you complete a modification (say intake), and that modification causes a problem, the problem will not be fixed under warranty. Most bolt-on items are OK. As usmanasif mentioned, internal engine modifications jeopardize the engine warranty.

From experience, if you put some aftermarket parts, i.e. rims and coilovers then you have a alignment problem, you would have to take the aftermarket parts off. No warranty work can be done unless the car has the original parts. Also, it all depends on the Nissan dealer/service.
Hell, I put some rims on mine and the service dept. wouldn't even touch it. So if you do get aftermarket stuff, keep your originals.

I just had a new tranny and clutch put in my Z and they said nothing about my pop-charger under the hood.

Yeah I have a pop charger,dc headers, UR crank pulley and they don't say anything to me. They still service the car. Also the only suspension mod you can do wothout voiding your warranty is the Nismo S-tune. All S-tune product wont void ur warranty but the R-tune stuff will(cams, headers, CAI)... the good stuff.
