Please. The dealer will tell you anything to make a sale. What's the mark-up on locks? 500 percent?

On the other hand, people will steal anything whether its worth $10 or $10,000. Spend $15 for locks at your local parts store.

+1. “Theft deterrent” does not mean “theft proof.” The objective is to simply make your car the least likely target. Thieves are lazy.
