Default C&d

I know we are fobidden to even mention the C&D article lets all pretend like it never existed. Any way I expect to be censored though I'm not trying to start a flame war. But the article that will remain nameless did not say anything about this being a pre-production car. Hope we will see a different car when it is released, but why would nissan give a car for testing if the real car was going to be significantly different?

Rai-
You are not forbidden to MENTION the article. That is not what Jay said. Jay said that he would just not allow links to the article. I feel that speaking of the article is all "hearsay" aka "rumors" until we each have the hard info. You expect to be censored? Please do not make obvious rude remarks towards the moderators who try to keep this as clean as possible. The moderators only try to clean up the personal attacks. Opinions are fine, personal attacks are not. Next time, please try to refrain from your assumptions of the moderators. Thank you.

So the car would get press when it starting rolling off the line.....those issues take a few months to get out....(testing, photoshoots, layout, editing, approval, printing). I think probably atleast 2-3 months.....it's not like C&D was testing the car last week and then stopped by kinko's on the way to return the car.

I would be surprised if the car they had included the suspension tweaking and other minor adjustments we've heard about recently.....we all know emissions has played a big part in Nissan's quest to get the numbers they wanted so who's to say in that time that they haven't been tweaking fuel maps and what not to get harness the ponies and dance around the emissions boundries......

time will tell and I have faith in Jay and Seedy when they tell us to wait and see.

Some thoughts on Car and Driver article

The first picture in the online article was the blue track model w/ the antenna removed and it appeared to be in the same location as the pics of the blue track model on nissandriven.com. I doubt Car and Driver would take the antenna of for a pic. The second smaller pic shows the car in a wooded area w/ the antenna on and "Nissan" rear license plate. I though most car mags put thier own plates on when they test a car. My conclusion is that Nissan took both these pics and provided them to Car and Driver for the article. I think the car that Car and Driver tested is not the one in the photos. As JManZ indicated they probably tested the car 1 to 2 months ago.

I think you are wrong. I had a whole post yesterday that made slight reference to the C&D article entited "I still like the Z but..." the post had a number of replies. specifically I was saying that the corvette is better than the Z in some ways. It had a few replies but now it's gone.

Either it was cencored because I Mentioned C&D or because I was presenting the Z as not being the greatest car ever made. So if I was being a little rude it might be because of this cencorship and was not unfounded as you say but you might not have known about it.

Believe me this was in no way an attack post and I even made a point to say that I am still going to get the Z but that I was just a little dissapointed with the weight and skidpad numbers.

BTW I appreciate the moderators but there's a fine line between keeping things from getting out of hand and forbidding any negative opinions.

1. My only problem with the C&D article was the weight, everything else is subjective and/or up to the driver. I did not and do not expect to be getting a 911 for $28K but it is hard to understand how the Z is not substantially lighter than the G sedan. I'm hoping that either C&D screwed up the numbers (included gas, passenger weight --something) or that the production cars will be a lot lighter. On the other hand, C&D did not just fall off the turnip truck, they KNOW how important the weight is to enthusiasts and I can't believe that they are soooo stupid they don't know how to weigh a car. Similarly, Nissan is not stupid, they also KNOW how important weight is, I can't believe they would give a car magazine a car that was 200 pounds heavier than the production version when they KNOW how important it is to their sales to have good numbers in the reviews. In any event, I guess we will soon find out.

2. I at least have a better excuse for watching Sponge Bob Square Pants, I can blame my nine year old daughter, and when she's not in the room, I can just say that I turned it on so she could watch it...-- YEAH, THAT'S MY STORY AND I'M STICKIN TO IT.

Yup, I read the article the exact same way. I hope JmanZ is right and the car shown is not the car tested. I saved a copy on my machine locally, and looking at it now I can't find anywhere that says "we tested the Track model". I see pics, and a reference to the price, but nowhere does it say the car they tested.

I agree w/ robbyn on point #1, though, 3322 has gotta be wrong, or somebody at Nissan just plain screwed the pooch.

As for point #2, the guy has square pants!

Default Will Production Z be used for other articles?

Jman,

Do you have any idea if the Motortrend and other magazines may or may not have a production vehicle to test from? Like it was said earlier, the production Z's have just recently been available, therefore, articles would lag due to the availability of a production Z. Is that accurate?
