“The 2005 350Z is better than the 2004.” “The 2006 350Z is better than the 2005.”
I’ve been reading posts similar to the statements above for several months, and I think that they're nonsensical. If you were around during the days when Datsun was adding 200 cc of displacement every several years, please raise your hand? I don't recall 240Z drivers exclaiming “Oh my God I’ve got to get a new 260Z because my Z has only 2400 cc. All Z drivers were proud of their Zs regardless of which they drove. And I sure don't remember 300ZX drivers admonishing 280Z drivers because their engines were short 200 cc.
Since 2003, the 350Z have been a 3.5 liter engine. That's it. Just one engine. All of us here come from a proud line and tradition of the Z. Many 350Z drivers are quick to pull the trigger on the latest and greatest 350Z because the new Z has cool taillights. Geeeeze...are you kidding me. Every wannabie street racer wishes and prays that he could drive a 350Z, while at the same time, 350Z drivers on this forum are belittling their own cars.
Relax 2003, 2004 and 2005 350Z drivers. You're driving 1 of only 150,000 Zs cars on the road. Your car is cool.

I don't know... I have a 2003... a base at that... and I don't recall anyone ever being negative about it. Maybe in other threads I don't read, but I don't see a lot of what you're talking about. I've seen the "I want the new tail lights" threads, but to me that's just people wanting what is new or what they like. If the old tail lights were new, then people would want those.

The only thing I have heard as far as bickering or "belittling" of the 2003 year is the tire feathering problem, and some trans issues....I think the newer models still have trans issues, any 04+ with feathering? I dont think anyone should think their car is better then the previous year, well because they ARE the same, and really, I havent seen what you are saying is going on, I only see some *****ing about 03's, but even then, its the same car as mine.....The 06 Z guys can talk some **** for a while, lol, until all of the 03-04-05 people swap their lights, and get some door panels, ha!
A few months ago when the first pics came out, I said the headlights turn with the wheels, I got a bunch of **** and people said they didnt, but when I went to a dealer they said they do, was my observations right??? *SLAP IN THE FACE *****ES* :P :P

IMHO....I compare each year's Z minor upgrade to similar changes on a Vette ....There may be slight tweaks here and there, but the car for the previous year is just as desirable as the current car.
I appreciate what I have and will continue to do so 3 years from now when my lease is up.

At some point, all cars will have LED lights, simply because they're more efficient, more durable and they'll last for 20 years. Eventually, they'll be really cheap, as well.
If my car got rear-ended, and I had to replace my 04 tails, I would prolly get the LED version, otherwise I just don't see the economics of spending hundreds of dollars for new taillights/headlights etc. when the ones I have are quite acceptable. The bi-xenon headlights may have some advantage, but prolly not that much really, not $1000+ (?) worth anyway.
It's like buying a swimming pool, you'll prolly never get back that investment when you sell your house!
Just my $.02.
