Default 2004 and 2006 HP numbers

Just to show you how out of whack our situation is with regard to specs. Chevrolet has already announced that the new 2004 Vette will have 400HP and 400 lbs of Torque. And the Z06 that will be out as a 2006 model year, will have 425HP and 415 lb-ft of torque. They are handling it quite differently than Nissan. Granted it is still an old pushrod V-8 but they at least can tell you info years in advance, as opposed to after the cars are actually coming off the production line.

That is wierd. Although I think Nissan has been extreme in its position, I can't imagine why a car company would want to screw its 2003 sales by bragging BEFORE THE START OF THE 2003 MODEL YEAR about its 2004 product??

Nissan did this as well.
In a couple of years ago they said the 2003 350 would have about 260hp, then a year or so later, they uped it to 280+.

But they weren't trying to sell a 2002 Z when they announced the 2003 specs!

Chevy isn't worried. They sell every vette they build, but keep supply just below demand. For the price, nothing else can touch it's performance. Try and find a new C5 on a dealers lot, most of them are ordered in by customers or sold before they hit the lot. The Z will be much the same way, at least for a while.
