Default Parking - c'mon, SUV, give me a break!

So my wife and I visit Movieland Wax Museum today (it officially closes for good on Halloween, so what the heck). I baby my Z and always try to find a parking spot far from the rif-raf. As luck would have it, the back parking lot was TOTALLY empty (it was a slow day). After an hour or so, we come back to the car and look what I see!

Unbelievable! I mean, WTF?? Luckily no dings.

lol!!!

that happens to me all the time.

i think they do it just to f*ck with us (not z owners, but ding-free zone parkers in general), i've never had a ding when i come out to find the same situation you did, plus their car is ding-free as well.

maybe they were looking for a ding-free spot and saw the z and thought "ah, there's a guy who wont ding me, at least one side of my car will be safe..."

or

"watch this guys, i'm going to park all the f*ck the way out there next to that guy, just to f*ck with him...muhahaha...(friends join in on the evil laugh in the background 'muhahaha')........ dont ding him...."

I alway park with my right side against a curb or island then. If the park like a semi-normal person there car will be up against my drivers side. Therefore, with a little luck when the driver gets out he won't be getting out next to my car. That means no ding if he doesn't have mean passengers.

+1 You stole my idea!

As for parking by fellow ding-haters, I do it all the time if most of the lot is full. Ensures that car lovers' cars are separated from the Point-A-to-B-ers'.

Same problems here, but after looking at your pic, it darn on me why ppl do this.

I seriously don't think they do it on purpose. Heres my theory: Its been proven that Humans are social creatures and that if put in room, ppl tend to gather even if no converstions occurs. Remember the line from I-Robot, "why is it that robots begin to gather into a group when left alone in the dark?".

Its instinct, that's just how we are program. So here, this guys wants to park in the back too, but the chemicles in his head tells him that its better to park next to someone rather than far from them.

So that's my theory, but let me say this, those ppl must be weak minded if they can't overcome the realization that you parked your Z way out there to avoid ppl.

Beleive it or not, there was a study done on this. People tend to do it for a reason, but I really don't remember what it was...

I do that all the time at school. I park in the back lot where NOBODY parks except the people with nice cars. We all park in a little group too. There's me, a brand new 3 series, '05 GTO, Jetta GLI, RSX-S, an Acura TL, a Mercedes, a Jaguar, a brand new A-8, and a Cayenne. Every so often there's an sti that parks with us too.

Funny thing is, there's always one or two random POS cars that park with us...friggin annoying. We also have the group of guys with huge white trucks that sort of park around us in a circle, not sure if that's a good thing or not. haha

No--- he/she parked next to you because he/she needed a reference... you have to realize that MOST people are generally bad drivers. That is, they can drive such that they won't get into many accidents, but in reality they really have no feel for the size of their car (ESPECIALLY SOCCER MOMS).
