The MY05 has automatic downshift rev-matching in manual mode. It makes the downshifts smoother but it also makes it feel like the tranny is not coupling or locking right away because it isn't. The computer will leave a delay gap to allow it to rev-match. On the 6MT, there are some benefits to rev-matching. On the 5AT, other than smoother shifting I really haven't noticed any performance benefits.
